I've never listened to a swans album before, so i decided "why don't i start with their newest album!" and well, I dont think I made a mistake.
This is swans 17th studio album, and from what i heard their last "big sounding" album. The album to me seems to be about parenting and birthing a child (shocking! i know.) I like the grandiosity this album presents, it gives the music a scarier edge to it. And the writing is pretty good as well. However, many of these ... read more
I barely know anything about either of the two people involved with this project, I only really listened to it because I saw a la Reezy feature. But it's pretty good.
The production is the obvious highlight here, these beats feel very grandiose and kinda psychedelic almost?? The rapping is pretty good as well, nothing too crazy. It almost takes a backseat to the production here. The mixing is also quite rough, and while I understand that the rough mixing is kind of the point of this style ... read more
ironically enough, i had to remake this review since i didn't like what i did with it at first.
the black album is actually what made me start this whole prince listening thingy or whatever, i had heard le grind and thought "this is the best thing i've heard," and i still hold that opinion, le grind is awesome, i love its very murky synths and horns, its quite a catchy track as well.
listening to the rest of the album..... it's quite good as well. although, it ... read more
I don't really get the hate for this, it's just a fun little ep
Controversy is the fourth album by prince, which is essentially just dirty mind but with more polished production. The thing about this album though, is that it is too reminiscent of princes first two works and it doesn't really have that raw quality that I enjoyed about dirty mind. Although, this album does have some of princes best songs to date, controversy, sexuality, and do me baby. There are also songs that kind of drag on a bit, the two songs private joy, and jack u off loses my ... read more
magic i want u: her best song, shits so perfect
how to teleport: really great too!
a friend recommended this album to me
I wasn't the biggest fan of this as a lot of it feels unexciting, and basically like all the other emo post hardcore bands of its time, and its pretty uninteresting to me.
this is the peak of human expression, the fact that there was music ever made afterwards is an embarrassment to this little thing. in 100 years we will be talking about this as the solid peak of music. thats it, its over, music is over now, nothing will top this.
Uhhh I dont know how to do intros, uhh I guess I'll start by saying that this is his debut. the album starts with the first song, the title track. this one is pretty good I guess, its just an acapella track but it shows the albums themes really well. the album as a whole has this really romantic and warm atmosphere to it. the album also is a little derivative as a lot of the songs here are kind of basic for the genre, and I dont think prince's voice is the best on here.
the songs ... read more
Has almost everything I love about ildmlfy, peggy kills it with his performance and its incredibly repayable. the mixing is a little off, but I barely know anything about mixing to tell you why, and unfortunately the second half feels midi
love the original but i think this reissue fixes a few of the minor problems I had with the album. the new song is cool too it reminds me of ep a little. its also nice to have the instrumentals as well
Oh my god, I love this song so much it's arguably the best Christmas song of all time, the chorus makes me feel so eargasmic GOD
