recently rewatched David Lynch's "Inland Empire," whose end credits feature a group of women singing and dancing to an incredible infectious, jazzy and energetic rhythm&blues song. upon learning it was Nina Simone's rendition of "Sinnerman," and it's the 10 minute closer on one of the most acclaimed jazz/rhythm&blues records of all time, i decided to jump into this discography i've too-long neglected.

also pretty good but im not sure why this is so praised over Hamas Arc, which i liked a lot more. still really nice and layered, just a bit less engaging
a review on RateYourMusic for this goes: "finding a corpse in the woods at night and then playing with it." I really couldn't put it any better myself, this is a profoundly dark and nauseating experience, the atmosphere established is simply mesmerizing. perfect record, honestly
