A smooth listen, but ultimately a very bland one. I like the vibe they were going for, and i could really see The Arctic Monkeys pull it off, if it wasn't because their songwriting for some reason took a pretty steep dive for this one.

There are some bad backing vocals on a few tracks here, and the more i focus one them, the more grating they get.

Of course there are some highlights on here (mainly the more energetic tracks). But even they are only good listens. Not something i really return ... read more

While the album does have highs and lows, it is overall very consistent in quality. There aren't really any duds here, and pretty much every hook is well crafted and catchy as hell. However, there is a big too far between the biggest highlights for me. through and through a great album, but not really many of my favorite 808 moments.

Volbeat was one of the first metal bands i got into, which isn't really strange since they have been a pretty huge deal here in Denmark for a long time now. It's time for Korn to get canned.

They really need to start moving away from all the Nu metal clichés. For obvious reasons.
No Gritt to the production at all. The instruments don't sound heavy and nasty they sound loud, clean and obnoxious.
Pretty much every track is structured the same, and pretty much none of the choruses or breakdowns hit as hard as they should.
The vocal work is a bit better than on SoS.

Even tho critique of technology and it's role and impact on todays society is a completely valid topic , the overall concept is handled a bit clumsily throughout most of "Our Pathetic Age". To discard the whole album and call Shadow a Boomer is just silly tho.

The instrumental side one is the worst part of the album. It's at times decent but most of it just seems like leftovers from "The Mountain Will fall".

There are bigger highlights on the second half tho. Shadow is a ... read more
