Having calmed the hype, i can finally say that this is their best album since Trench. It doesn't reach the level of ambition or quality of this one, but damn, it's really really good. There was a point when i thought they were never gonna give another album as good as Trench or good at least. This... Is far below Trench, but it's still a pretty good album full of incredible songs like Next Semester, Backslide, Midwest Indigo and Routines In The Night, which are one of the best songs in their discography. The worst part of this album and the reason why it isn't a good one is the boring it is and the uninteresting the production and the sound are, which is a shame because i think they had a pretty good concept and ideas. There are some genuinely great songs on the tracklist like Friend, Please and Trapdoor, which despite being their first record, are well composed and executed. I'm sorry, this is genuinely horrific. The lyrics are as horrible as they are in Blurryface, but at least there the songs were kinda fun and a bit interesting i guess, but not here. I know it's recorded in a basement, but doesn't justified the quality of the songs, and oh god, the singing, THE SINGING.
