Pretty rocky, but also not that great of a single for him.
New and old songs done to perfection by Miss Francis. Pity that it's not on Spotify, I only have it on vinyl. My main criticism of this album would be the lousy song selection for the second side of the LP, could've been some other rarer songs like "Why Say Goodbye" from 1968 or something like that. But, well, since it's her Silver Anniversary Album, I won't complain too much.
Her Sahara performance is way better than the previous New York City Copa appearance, which received an album release. Although the latter would chart, 'Live at the Sahara' contains more thoughtful interpretations of newer standards.
One of Goldsboro's LPs that I enjoy quite a lot is 'We Gotta Start Lovin''. You can feel a higher quality production compared to his earlier LPs, and his vocals feel stronger here.
'Take Good Care of My Baby' is probably one of his weakest albums, but it carries a nice charm as well.
An improvement compared to his other hits (cough, cough, "Honey").
From some relaxing, easy-going songs to plain boring tracks, 'Today' is just an album. One meant to be recorded and fitting the year, but definitely not his strongest effort. "I'm a Drifter", "Say It's Not Over", and "Heroes and Kings" are highlights.
Mixture of hits and misses, all in a highly commercial package here. "Till" and the title track are highlights.
"Tell Me Why" is one of Vinton's strongest entries in his entire career. He goes through charming old standards, mixing in his pop sound. The title track was originally an Eddie Fisher hit, but Vinton revived it and brought it back to the charts in 1964. It features a grand orchestra and, in some parts, a soft voice. "Imagination Is a Magic Dream" is also a nice one. One of the best versions of "There Goes My Heart" is featured here, and a stripped-down ... read more
Overly prized for being a Beatles album, 'Let It Be' is another effort by the band that may be their final, but definitely not their best. Starts weirdly with the first few tracks, which I may just not get, but gets better along the way with the title track, "The Long and Winding Road", and "I've Got a Feeling".
Perhaps one of the best soundtrack albums, 'Dear World,' has everything.
Recorded after the two highlighted tracks became hits, this album features multiple definitive versions of hits and other songs. She goes through 'Sherry!' like the best, and takes on 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'' perfectly. Maye swings through charmers such as "Java" and "If You'll Just Come Back to Me" as well. It is definitely a strong effort.
'Beatles for Sale' is a fairly good selection featuring spotlights like "Kansas City". But the album itself isn't that coherent.
Her vocals can tackle any song. The orchestra does fine work as well.
"Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye" includes swinga-ding-ding songs like "The Song Is You" and the starting track "Get Me to the Church on Time", she goes through it all. Definitely not a bad debut for the RCA label.
At first, I had it queued, and when it started playing, I thought the C418 Minecraft tracks were playing. Then I looked, and it was the Orchid Mantis album. So that's a little funny, but anyway. It's solid but not amazing.
