ARDIPITHECUS

In college I got dragged for writing a “mixed” review of this album for the newspaper. In her defense, the redeemable tracks are absolute bangers that I still listen to to this day. What makes this record (and, to a lesser extent, her more recent one) occasionally difficult to listen to are her half-assed attempts to seem deep by throwing together a lyrical hodgepodge of new age philosophy and pseudoscience that just gets exhausting to listen to. Musically she’s also a little wet behind the ears and doesn’t quite have full control of her voice here. Still, this is definitely the best record I’ve heard from a 15 year old.
