My main issue with this album is the same as my main issue with every BoC album... just a smidgen too long. Great listen regardless.
Indie Rock legends Death Cab for Cutie return after 4 years with a fairly alright listen. Nothing on here reaches the high highs of Transatlanticism, We Have the Facts..., or Plans, but it's certainly stronger than anything from the 2010s decade. This and Asphalt Meadows show that the band are definitely moving in the right direction, and I can definitely see them making an album that comes close to their early 2000s peak.
Modest Mouse return with an album thatsonically and stylistically draws from the We Were Dead era. A period that I am incredibly fond of. So this was a good time all around for me. Isaac Brock sounds like Nick Cave at points on here man. This rocks
Vince is genuinely so good dude. He hasn't missed once in his whole career. Man's been on a generation run for the entire time he's been putting out projects. This is no different. Bending styles and genres like crazy dude
Okay look... It's not as good as Paul's best solo stuff but I think we need to remember the guy is 83, and STILL putting out pretty decent pop rock. And he's doing some surprisingly interesting and weird stuff with the production on here. Mountain Top rips. Maybe I'm corny but Down South is nice, nowhere near as good as Here Today from Tug of War, but it at least kicks the ass of any of Ringo's tributes to John.
Interesting choice to put your mother on the album cover and name the first track "Hoe Phase" Drake. I'm certain Sexyy Red has SOMETHING on Drake. She's gotta be like Mossad and Israel with Trump man I swear. Awful release. Probably the worst album of the day. Genesis Owusu released an album on the same day dude, just listen to that.
Rap's Pinocchio boy returns with his stalest release yet. Embarassing Lyrical moments that cannot be covered up by bland production, that's trying to go for "Dark" and "Cold" but ends up colourless and lukewarm. Nothing on here is as embarrassing as a "Meet Your Padre" but nothing hits the high of like god maybe "Nice For What" off of Scorpion?! That might've been the last truly incredible solo track from Drake. "First Person ... read more
I be smiling the whole time listening to this album. With or without teeth
STRUGGLER was my album of the year in 2023... this is a 2026 album of the year contender holy hell. unbelievably good
I don't think Charli's regular collaborators have "Rock Music" in their veins to do this sound. Get her in the studio with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross man. Cause this sounds like Domino by Jessie J but worse.
Next studio album from NiN gonna be generational if this is anything to by
