Travis Scott's debut studio album still proves to be his best work 9 years later. The dark and eerie feeling these tracks evoke is unmatched.
Attempting to point out a flaw in this album is challenging. Breathtaking is the only word I can use to describe the experience of listening to this for the first time.
Very high highs with some of the worst lows imaginable. Generally shotty mixing across the entire record. Pre-update this album would've sat at about a 40. Kanye needs to drop finished music, he can't dlc patch everything and expect it to work in his favor.
I could not rate the individual songs if I tried due to so many of them being indistinguishable from each other. This album earns a middling score for the 6 or so highlights that are legitimately great, and even though a lot of songs blend together, they're still not "bad" songs.
I love the opium sound, and this is no exception. A lot of the filler tracks here sound good on their own but add a sluggish feeling to listening through the whole album.
