this album, in summary, is an experimental record from sonic youth that encapsulates the feeling of fall transitioning into winter beautifully. this is seen most literally in hoarfrost, which is a track i enjoy quite a bit. however, what drew me in and what i enjoy most about the album, is how the opening track spins the listener a dark cloud which then looms over the whole project, evoking a deep and almost nostalgic sense of dread. when i first heard this track, it felt like it had crawled ... read more

a very solid album, very personal and self reflective. i appreciate the lack of features as it allows mac the space to talk openly about his struggles with depression and drug addiction. minimal skips though there are a few. the highlights of the album for me are come back to earth and self care, and my personal skips as of right now are jet fuel and 2009, though this is subject to change. i suspect this album could grow even more on me with a few more listens and some time.
