Modest Mouse returning to form on their first independent release in three decades.
The album gets a little weak at the end but kudos to the band for trying to keep things fresh.

Okay everyone we can stop acting like this album is good.
It's been a long time since I've listened to an Evanescence album and seeing how this album had decent reviews I decided to give the band another shot, but good God is this record overproduced to shit. I can't name you an instrument that sounds good on this album. The guitars are over processed and stiff, the drums have no personality, the bass is hardly in the mix to where you might as well make the album without a bass ... read more
Pretty good album.
I honestly like this a little more than the album they released earlier this year. The guitars sound amazing and the band stays true to their sound, even if you know they could've made something more hardcore.
Fav tracks: Doom in bloom, Hum of hurt, Nothing is over
Least fav track: It used to matter
Vince's weakest project.
I agree to the messaging of the record but I also feel like Staples making a political album really stripped his talent as a songwriter. Nearly every song his voice is so monotone and its just hard for me to take this album seriously.
Rock!!!
What else can I say? The album kicks ass!
Fav tracks: Smooth sailing, Keep your eyes peeled, I Sat by the ocean
The record that put Kendrick on the map.
It's not as great as I remember it but it's still a great album. The storytelling throughout is brilliant, the beats are really cool and the record overall is focused and in its groove in what's it's trying to display.
Fav tracks: M.a.a.d city, The Art of peer pressure, Sing about me, I,m dying of thirst
Dalek still keeping things fresh.
This record is gloomy, in your face, and gritty. The duo continues to put out compelling music and although these sounds are familiar the two keep it fresh with sharp lyricism and bold industrial sounds.
Fav tracks: Better than, Substance, By the time we arrive in El Salvador
When people called indie rock emotionless dribble this is what they heard.
This album reminds me of that weak Tame Impala album last year. Honestly this record is so beige and has nothing vibrant to it, everything from the vocals, the instrumental, the production l just sounds like a band going through the motions. I'm really struggling trying to think of a moment that I liked on this album or a moment that jumped out at me because like I said it just sounds like background music... ... read more
One of the best Singer-Songwriter albums this year.
I like the unique lo-fi quality of this record and the up front songwriting. Greg isn't trying to sell us on some lengthy pining for reason, instead Greg packs in the important aspects of songwriting in just under half an hour. Guitars, lo-fi rhodes keyboards, and minimal rhythms give the album its charm and I look forward to more music by Greg.
Fav tracks: Mary/ Dreaming, It breaks my heart, Gentle love
An honest yet flawed LP by Violet.
Violet has a lot of potential and maybe we'll be looking back and seeing this record as a good starting spot for her. I enjoyed more of the hard rock songs on this record as opposed to some of the slower cuts on this album. Violet has the voice and the vision and in time, I think she'll piece it together.
Fav tracks: Thum, Last day I loved you, 595
Least fav tracks: Cool buzz, Pool of my dreams
Among one of the bands best records.
Iceage is back to form on this new LP and the punk and indie sound is still there but this time with a jangle pop influence. The band does a great job with the production, performance, and songwriting.
Fav tracks: Match head girl, Mother of pearl, 1835
Death Grips with an abrasive mixtape.
The foundation of the bands sound is on "Ex-Military" it's dark and industrial and keeps you on edge while jamming out and laughing at the serious yet humorous songwriting.
Fav tracks: Takyon, Guillotine, Culture shock
Her best album, but that's not saying a lot.
Honestly the first two tracks I think are Meghan's best tracks she's ever written, that may have been all she had in the tank though. What hurts this album is how uninventive and tasteless a lot of the songs are.
Fav tracks: Cupid, Shoowap Shoowah
What is the hype?
This is such a bland country album. Uncreative, average songwriting, eye rolling cliche's. The production has no flavor and there are only about two good songs on an 18 track album that had more filler than quality.
Fav tracks: You and me time, Loving life again
Least fav tracks: It wasn't God who made honky tonk angels, We know us, Last call for us
Solid album by a legend.
I'm glad that even in his 80's Paul can still craft a good album. It doesn't surprise you but you respect the care he puts into his music.
Fav tracks: As you lie there, Down south, Life can be hard
If this is your first BOC album you listen to then it's probably good.
Maybe I need to give it a couple more listens but while I enjoyed it for the most part, the record really isn't that bold. The atmosphere is there but sadly some of it just comes off as background music. As an ambient lover I still enjoyed it, and I'm glad that BOC dropped a new album so I'll enjoy the good parts.
Fav tracks: The Word becomes flesh, Deep time, Father and Son
One of the best video game ost's.
I don't think I need to explain much more. The music is half the appeal of the game. It's retro but carries to modern day flare to the OST. Happy yet unsettling, like a liminal image you've seen before.
An amazing concept album.
Anais Mitchell and company craft such an amazing concept album of Hadestown and the inhabitants and myths that have been spread by stories. With an excellent cast of musicians like Greg Brown, Justin Vernon, Ani DeFranco and more; the record vividly describes the stage play of the title. The album is truly fantastic. I'm surprised this isn't as talked about as being the best album if 2010 because I am surely think it is.
