This album absolutely deserves its high score, but it's also the very definition of an artistically challenging work with a niche appeal. I sincerely doubt that this many people can genuinely appreciate it on such a deep level. People shouldn't be jumping on the bandwagon and giving it a perfect score without having personally and repeatedly dissected the album for themselves.

The fact that this album isn't in the top ten is proof of how criminally underrated it is. It's both the genesis and the pinnacle of New Wave—a truly groundbreaking and masterful work. They took their inspiration from a master like Fela Kuti and surpassed him, a perfect example of the student becoming the master. This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest 'white albums' ever made
This is a good album, but it's a prime example of how many Japanese albums are overrated on this platform. Look, I absolutely believe that Japanese music deserves a critical re-evaluation; we've been living in a media landscape dominated by the US and UK for far too long. However, that isn't a justification for this album to be rated higher than the 'banana album' (The Velvet Underground & Nico) and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.
It's honestly laughable that an album like this can chart at #38 while The Velvet Underground's debut is nowhere to be found in the top 200. What a world.
