I thought beating Preacher's Daughter would be impossible, but apparently nothing is impossible in the world of Ethel Cain. I much prefer this darker aesthetic for her.
Tempest is straight up one of the best songs ever made imo.
Ethel Cain's debut album tells a story of a girl named Ethel who after losing her lover, gets kidnapped and brutally murdered. This storytelling mixed with her production and vocals is just stellar; there is a quality I can't pinpoint that makes this record one of my all time favorites.
Lorde stands as an extraordinary artist whose music shaped my teenage years. Nothing captures the feeling of "I'm wasting my years of being a teenager" better and more acurately than this album right here.
If Lorde's debut was Pure Heroin(e) this was Pure Coke.
No, but on a serious note, I think this is one of the best Pop albums ever made. My 17 year old self was not the same after hearing this on release. There isn't a single skip here, and its made so beautifully that I cannot get enough of it.
Charli's debut album stands as something unique in her catalogue. It sounds like nothing that she would go on to make, but god is it amazing. The only thing this album lacks that I think it definitely should've had is commercial performance. How wasn't Grins immediately #1??
