Pine Barrens

I’m sorry but there’s a clear difference between this and Not Dead Yet and his prior music. A sense of passion and warmth and homeyness. This just..it just feels like he’s writing very vague lyrics now and this sound, at least before the drums kick in, is just not appealing to me. This is probably the most basic and generic song he’s crafted yet, and it’s very sad especially because me and a lot of other people have been waiting two years for an album named Dead Friends that..seemingly doesn’t exist anymore. It seems he’s gonna make an EP (which is also disappointing considering the two year wait) filled with songs like these and that just doesn’t feel like Jakey. This aesthetic isn’t really him. The bad autotune isn’t him. This doesn’t feel right.

I know he’ll come back with some amazing videos too, which makes this more frustrating. I want to hope the EP will be good, I seriously do, but honestly the odds are kinda stacked against it. This is not the Jakey I wanted. This is not the Jakey I needed.
