Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon: The End Of Day

I love this album so much. It's legit banger after banger. The production is fantastic and Cudi does a great job at bringing the songs to life with his consistently really catchy hooks. There's the occasional corny lyric or a song that isn't nearly as great as the others, but those are very small problems in an album brimming with quality. I don't even relate to what Kid Cudi is saying in a lot of the songs, but they're all so great I don't even care.

Even though it's a big step down from Man On The Moon 1, it still has a lot going for it. I think the lyrics and ideas Cudi portrays here are a lot better at conveying the emotions he's feeling. This does come at a cost of production, as it not only deviates from the sound of the original, going for a more dramatic sound than a spacy synth one. The most memorable part of this album is how overly long the title is.

In all seriousness, this album isn't bad, far from it. But a lot of this album just sounds like a very watered down version of the MOTM type sound. It's very spacey and psychedelic but manages to sound just alright for a lot of it. There's enough tracks that are good to keep it from being straight up mid, but this isn't something I'd go back to unless I had to.

J. Cole - Born Sinner (Deluxe)

I wasn't expecting much from this album when I initially was going through J. Cole's discography, especially after Sideline Story kind of ended up not being super amazing to me at first. But when I say this was a magical first listen, I fucking mean it. I loved damn near every song on this album and I still do. The production, flows, and just overall sound on here is so fucking catchy front to back and I've had a soft spot for it ever since. I have expanded my taste since this ... read more
