I'm pretty sure this is the fourth 'Electric Callboy' (then 'Eskimo Callboy') record I've ever listened to. And off the back of 'MMXX', 'TEKKNO' accompanied with claims of "the old albums were better" and having a great time with 'Crystals' I decided to give this one a listen. To be honest, I put this album off for a while with how trashy the album cover looks. But I have to say, if there ever was a "never judge a book ... read more
While 'Electric Callboy' (then known as 'Eskimo Callboy') were seasoned veterans by the time this EP rolled out, I do think (and it seems, by the number of plays, that it's a valid observation) that this EP and the following LP ('TEKKNO') has exploded their popularity into stardom for the current generation of listeners. This explosion of popularity most definitely well deserved (with the addition of new vocalist, Nico) it did seem to come with some backlash ... read more
Over hyped and over hated.
This album is not the best sleep token album in my opinion, but it is still pretty good. I am thoroughly confused where the hate is coming from. Huge congrats to the British boys for becoming so big and bringing some much-needed attention to the rock/metal/whatever they are scene.
I actually think that there are no bad tracks on this album per-say (not to say that there are no skips, though I have listened to this album cover to cover a couple of times) but I think ... read more
BABYMETAL is one of the only bright spots in the metal scene. And what I mean by that, is that so much of the music in metal delves into heavier topics (as they are able to do so on an unparalleled level) often leaving a feeling of depression and hopelessness. And here is where BABYMETAL's niche lies. They manage to provide the same musical heaviness but also have contrasting hopefulness and light.
I also think that this album is really good in comparison to the rest of their discography. ... read more
There is a running joke that newer Bring Me The Horizon fans that primarily only listened to 'That's The Spirit' and 'amo' (the softer albums) would go to a BMTH concert and get freaked out after they play something crazy like 'Pray for Plagues' or 'Chelsea Smile' or something. And while I am technically a newer BMTH listener, I actually didn't come from this album or 'amo'. Instead, because I branched over from BABYMETAL, my ... read more
I've never listened to much any Knocked Loose before this year. I knew 'Counting Worms' because arf arf, but that was about it. I did also know that Bryan Garris had a bit of a different higher pitched scream than most other metalcore acts. However, I saw that there was an overwhelming amount of recommendations for this album as well as many calling this to be album of the year. So I decided to give it a listen, fully expecting the contents to be a bit too hard to listen to.

I understand that this album "wasn't made for me" or something, which is what people tend to say to shut down any rational criticism. And to that I agree for the most part that it wasn't made for me. I am not an angsty teenage girl (that's what I'm hearing its meant for), nor do I have one inside me. However, like I mentioned before, that doesn't exempt it from any criticism or personal biases.
This was my first foray back into the world of pop after growing ... read more
The long awaited Linkin Park comeback album is mid.
By the time I got to this album and singles were dropping, I had completed my circuit of listening to every Linkin Park album. And to say I was excited is an understatement. Each single was, for the most part, very solid making my expectations of the album quite high. But the day the album dropped and I listened to it, I very quickly reversed my thoughts. At first I had very favorable opinions of the album. But then after the second and third ... read more
It seems like people here just hate deathcore not going to lie. I mean I know this album is received not the best even among Bring Me The Horizon fans but I think its genuinely not that bad (but also not like an amazingly perfect album). Or maybe that's just me speaking because of how refreshing it felt after listening to Olivia Rodrigo's 'GUTS' on repeat over and over again to see if I can like what normal people like.
After the aforementioned 'GUTS' marathon ... read more
I actually put off on listening to this album for a while. I guess it was the subconscious fear that it would disappoint me, especially since I've never really gotten into emo or hyper pop (which are huge influences for this album). But I'm glad I eventually came around to listening to the whole thing.
Not going to lie I also observed the whole controversy with 'a bulleT w/ my namE On' not really knowing what to think of the whole mess, especially from my personal Christian ... read more
A year ago, on a random whim I decided to listen to the whole Linkin Park catalogue. To be completely honest on the first listen, I thought it was cool but nothing crazy (I ended up thinking 'The Hunting Party' was the best).
However when I re-listened to it I quickly changed my mind. Maybe I wasn't really paying attention to the album when I was listening, but this whole album is really good. Countless times have I just put on the whole album and played it cover to ... read more
This whole album is pretty banging and a great return to form of Bring Me The Horizon after the 'Amo' album. Initially I learned about Bring Me The Horizon through their collaboration and wholesome relationship with Babymetal (who I've been a long time fan of). So naturally I listened to 'Kingslayer' and while I did find Oli's vocals harsh to listen to at the time (and from what I learned, this was kind of the craziest harsh vocals and heaviest that the band had ... read more
In terms of nu-metal I think Slipknot are up there with how crazy and brutal they get. I'm just glad that by the time I got to this album I had already gotten used to unclean vocals (thanks Will Ramos), otherwise I might of not been a very happy camper. This whole album is just head banging fun and I love that I can hear Sid on the turn tables. In some of the newer Slipknot stuff Sid tends to get buried. Vocal delivery is raw and angry and scratches the itch.
On 'Spit It Out' I ... read more
This is the first Poppy record I have listened to. And to be honest, I mostly came to listen because I heard that Jordan Fish (departed from Bring Me The Horizon) was putting some work into it. Overall, I came away with a very good impression and I will be waiting for more.
The album isn't completely cohesive as one complete piece, which isn't a bad thing. I've heard the album described to be a "metalcore jukebox" which is a very accurate description. I did like most ... read more
When I first got into listening to metal, I couldn't really stand the screaming. The music was interesting, complex, and technical but frequently the vocals were a bit too much for me to swallow. That being said, this is the band and record that finally made me confront this and accept it for what it is.
Pain Remains (especially parts I, II, and III) had been advertised (specifically TankTheTech's video) to be a masterful piece of art. To be completely honest, I didn't fully ... read more
