Steakfry - Cave Paintings

Steakfry absolutely ripped it with this one! A very melancholic and gentle LP based on his strumming guitar and his tender singing voice. He displays an uncanny talent for songwiritng in both his captivating lyrics and simplistic arrangements. His lush reverb adds to the isolating feeling and makes every piece feel very dramatic. It is heartbreaking music straight from the soul. What an amazing artist. 9/10

Waifu Jackson - Nutella Ficker

I really hope this grows on me. Jo-deki was surprisingly good when it first released, Blackbox a bit disappointing. Blackbox is sadly one of the better songs on the album. It's much less optimistic than the previous releases and in turn makes the songs on it feel much more bland. The album too suffers from a lack of dynamics. Most songs stay in a medium loud range from beginning to end without a clear direction for dramatic effect. Ejima too seems to really hold back his playing on this ... read more

Martin Stürtzer - Temporal Paradox

The Best ambient, Berliner Schule record to study to. it stays in the background and is very atmospheric.
An absolute lifesaver for me since I have trouble focusing without it. Very entertaining and humble without too much distracting experimentation. 8/10

Burzum - Dauði Baldrs

You can't listen to it like you would any other album. It represents Varg at his absolute peak musically, striking the iron while it's hot with the absolute worst equipment imaginable. It is historically unique in that it represents a 10/10 artist at the top of his game with no means of making it come out right. Every minute is filled with inspired songwriting and a profound understanding of structure and atmosphere.

On a personal note, as someone who grew up with one of those ... read more

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

Riveting, enchanting and extraordinarily inspired. Undoubtedly one of history's greatest albums.

ポルカドットスティングレイ [Polkadot Stingray] - 大正義

Uplifting, energetic and life-affirming. The slow parts add alot of spice to their work. Dai Masayoshi is my favourite of their EPs simply because it has Benikurage on it which is frankly their heaviest song. It's quite a shame this EP gets overshadowed by their even better releases. Regardless, Dai Masayoshi perfectly illustrates what modern upbeat rockmusic can be. Shizuku's signing and Ejima Harushi's guitar playing are such a unique and inspiring duo. From the translations I ... read more

SHISHAMO - Shishamo 3

My little piece of happiness in a bottle. I grew up with this album and it perfectly captures wholesome, nostalgic city romance. I just can't stop smiling whenever I revisit it. What a charming record.

Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer

Frankly an incredible album. Although I don't enjoy the genre very much the high production quality and creative writing make this as of 12/02 my album of the year 2025.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!

It pulls you in with frankly wonderful, almost angelic sound design. Immaculate textures at times. But the music is so forgetable I had to listen to it thrice in a row just to form anything resembling a fair recollection of it.
Although the mere ability to hear the album thrice without it becoming grating speaks volumes to its quality.
If you're looking for nothing-music this is the best I can imagine. It does its job wonderfully. For instance, it's structured to have very little ... read more

Porter Robinson - Worlds

3 outstanding tracks with a lot of meandering in the middle. The worse songs are neither very good for dancing nor engaging enough to listen to on their own. Goodbye to A World, Lionhearted and Sad Machine are very emotional and very well produced songs which stand better on their own than as a track on the album.

Tally Hall - Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum

Maybe the only album on which every song sounds like a different band's one-hit-wonder. From beginning to end this album introduces new ideas and sounds with a charmingly light-hearted attitude. A very uplifting experience.

Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue

My favourite Jazz album. An outstanding use of dynamics articulates each phrase in a meaningful way. The whole record unfolds slowly with each passing bar. It is very sophisticated. Even as someone who isn't into Jazz I come back to it every other month because it's just that good.

Blehh - Alt Acc Songs
70

A quaint little album. Blehh may not push the genre forward in any meaningful way. Instead the music is a fantastic execution of a sound other Epunk artists pioneered before him. He captures modern 2020s teenage angst very well. Must listen if you're looking for a more folky take on orthodox 2020s Epunk.

Can - Future Days
40

Hurts to listen to. The songs are too loud to be calming and too dialed back to be exciting. In a brave attempt of capturing the perfect mean, Can instead got the worst of both worlds. A failed albeit respectable experiment. Wouldn't recommend.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
100

The defnitive musical experience. Anything else is a mere simulacra. The LP has peaked and we have been basking in it's shadow ever since. It took the 4 brilliant minds long enough but they finally struck gold with their departure into more aproachable jazz inspired rock after multiple not so stellar relases like Obscured by Clouds or Atom Heart Mother.
If the worst track on your album is an 11/10 masterpiece like Money you truly deserve of the greatest album in history. What more is there ... read more

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

Just a very bad album. It's only redeeming quality being it sounds like the Roger Waters Parts on the Wall.

The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
100

The Mars Volta at their absolute peak. The songs are very fast paced and form a cohesive whole. The sameness of the individual songs may seem repetitive at first glance but the parts of the album complement each other brilliantly. Maybe the only album that can claim to go from 10 to 11 to 12 over the course of 20 minutes without feeling like a self indulgent trog. Some of the very best writing music has to offer.

Thank You Scientist - Stranger Heads Prevail
100

An incredibly delighting piece of art. The trumpets guitars and drums complement each other in a stunning display of compositional craftsmanship. The indidual parts take huge turns in their dynamics in each and every moment. The songs are very fast paced, dramatic and capture a very unique and modern sound. I don't think I have fallen in love with an album this much in years. An absolute masterpiece.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "Luciferian Towers"
10

The worst Album I have listened to in my life. I got baited into buying this album because the unique cd case and branding piqued my interest. A total snorefest back in the day and never again have I felt this betrayed over buying an album.

Over the years I found a new apreciation for ambient music but this is to this day what I refer to when talking about the worst music imaginable. 1/10
