tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar - Gling-Gló
58

If we're considering this a true Bjork release, then it's probably my least favorite. It's still fine, a pleasant vocal jazz album. The only highlight here for me personally is "Ruby Baby"

Dirty Projectors - Mount Wittenberg Orca
72

Mount Wittenberg Orca is a pleasant collaboration between Dirty Projectors and Bjork that while not the most memorable thing in the world, is pretty nice to listen to, and I love the highlights here.

Björk - Selmasongs
75

It's pretty upsetting to hear what Bjork went through in the making of Dancer in the Dark, however, in spite of this she made some great music for the film. "I've Seen it All" is a monumental track

Björk - Greatest Hits
92

Kinda hard to miss when so many of her best songs make it onto this compilation

Björk - Fossora
72

I think Fossora is my least favorite mainline Bjork album, but it's still a really cool, neatly-wound concept. I've been told this is her "wind instrument" album, and I totally hear it. Some of her most challenging and daring tracks like "Atopos" make it onto here, and so it makes it rewarding even if I don't return to it often

Björk - Utopia
72

Even as one of Bjork's most bloated albums, Utopia gives us an incredible soundscape via Arca's production, and there's still a lot to love. There are a few truly incredible tracks on this thing, and it's still pretty intriguing even if it isn't hitting as much as those tracks

Björk - Vulnicura
82

One of her saddest records to date sees her returning to the sound palette of Homogenic, but this time in a way that's painfully intimate.

Björk - Biophilia
78

An otherworldly listen which truly is better than the sum of its parts. A lot of individual tracks don't really do much for me, but for some reason I am incredibly enamored with what they come together to be. Not to mention, the literal creation of new instruments to create this record makes it feel like a world.

Björk - Volta
72

Volta is a slightly underrated release. Even as one of her least interesting projects, it's still oozing with creativity, and has a handful of amazing tracks on it. There's a rawness here you don't really get with her other releases

Björk - Medúlla
75

One of Bjork's stranger releases, her vocal album still manages to have great songwriting and is pretty decent in spite of its limitations. I really love how insane this thing sounds

Björk - Vespertine
92

Vespertine feels like if Homogenic were an intimate record rather than a monumental one, and I believe it still greatly succeeds. This album feels like heaven being blasted directly into my eardrums

Björk - Homogenic
100

Bjork's magnum opus, a true testament to everything she is as an artist. This album is perfectly crafted from front to back. By imposing the harsh limitations of strings, beats, and vocals, she brings out the best in herself and creates a life-changing masterpiece which feels wintery and larger than life

Björk - Post
92

Post sees Bjork drastically improving from Debut, as the record feels like a dance-pop experience which refuses to let go once it gets a grip on you. This thing is cinematic, yet still manages to feel intimate at the same time, and SO MANY bops too

Björk - Debut
78

Debut sees Bjork immediately as a fully formed artist. Though these songs aren't quite the masterpieces she'd later go on to make, they're still pretty infectious, and all the parts are there.

Björk - Björk
55

I'm just gonna log some of my favorite artists, this is a curious start to Bjork's career but honestly, judging this as canon feels strange

Sufjan Stevens - Javelin
92

This album truly does feel like more of an experience than an album. Sufjan is making some of his best music in years, and knowing that he is doing this in spite of the many challenges he has faced as of late is genuinely awe-inspiring

88

The chemistry between Angelo and Sufjan on here is SO GOOD. Their voices almost perfectly blend together at times. Hearing all the singles for this as they came out was one of my fondest memories of 2021. This thing is gorgeous, lush, and so so replayable

Sufjan Stevens - The Ascension
75

The Ascension is one of Sufjan's better newer releases. It's a really solid, and occasionally fantastic foray into an electro-pop sound. There are a lot of great production choices on this, and it's overall a pretty effecting listen

Sufjan Stevens & Lowell Brams - Aporia
55

There's genuinely some very pretty stuff on here, but it's overall just alright. One of my least favorite in his discography :(

Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly & James McAlister - Planetarium
65

I'll admit, this is another Sufjan album I really should relisten to. I haven't heard this in full in years. I vaguely remember it being pleasant but not too interesting. I love a couple tracks here though, Earth and Mercury especially
