Carrie & Lowell is Sufjan's emotional opus. It's incredible how he can make a record this powerful with so little.
Even as a die-hard Sufjan fan, I probably need to relisten to this album again, I really like it but not quite as much as other fans. Still, I recognize the fact that this is one of his most creative albums, and Impossible Soul might be one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard. I can imagine loving this fully after a relisten
Illinois is Sufjan's most monumental release. Up until recently, I'd've called it my favorite. Despite not being flawless, this thing comes very close, as it has some of the richest songwriting, the most lush production, and the most heart out of any of his major releases.
Seven Swans is one of Sufjan's most raw albums. It also manages to portray religious themes and stories in a way that feels genuinely emotional and like they truly mean something to him.
Sufjan's first fantastic record, this is the one that really cemented who he was as an artist, and some of his best folk stuff appears on this record. overall, it's beautiful and intimate, and makes me feel like i'm there with him
i think this record is slightly underrated, like, it's not his usual fare, but it is a genuinely bold attempt at electronic music. it's not amazing but i do really like it
mostly just all over the place, Sufjan is my favorite artist so I should probably log all his stuff. i love "dumb i sound" but everything else is either pleasant or kinda bad
super creative production but a lot of these songs feel half-baked. also the vocals were hit or miss
this is everything fantastic about sour perfected, i love almost every track here
their most relaxing and introspective album. candy says is unintentionally a very good dysphoria anthem
one of those albums i really appreciate but don't love
half these songs are really good, half these songs are something else
