Steely Dan sadly could not recapture their old magic perfectly in their hiatus-breaker Two Against Nature. Still, their musically vibrant and lyrically astounding songwriting still shows through occasionally. The opener, Gaslighting Abbie, is such a groove and a clever reference to the movie Gaslight. Solid album. While I did not find any of these tracks offensive or by any means mediocre, I found myself rather disappointed while listening to this so-called "greatest album of all time". While the production is great for the time, I found it not completely innovative for 1966.
