The mixing live should be the real album. The record is the live-show equivalent.
Oh my gosh, why is this Christmas album so good? Two hours just flies by with reimagined classics and some fun originals that are welcome changes of pace.
I was not expecting this to be a significant step up from the last album... Good job.
This album, centering Foxing's dynamic imagery with fantastic production, is their most accessable by far. As far as emo bands adding a stadium element to their sound, this is quite possibly the best example.

I will bat for this record 10/10 times. Switchfoot was making music for a fantastic surf documentary, not harcore rock fans. to anyone who thinks that the synths run away with the sound, just listen to these tracks played live. This is arguably the most classiclly Switchfoot album. Despite switchfooting across genres for the last 20 years, I would argue this is the true pinnacle of the 90s and 00s Switchfoot sound. From the lasting Smashing Pumpkins influence on "Stars" to the rebellious Christian emphasis on "Easier than Love," they're playing to their strenghts with Drew Shirley's guitars bouncing around most tracks.
