Really solid album. Lean on Me is a highlight, and some of the back-half tunes surprised me. But this album isn't super memorable, especially when compared to the other soul classics on the Rolling Stone list.

Wow. John Wesley Harding was two albums prior on the Rolling Stone 500 Albums list, so I've been listening to a lot of Dylan recently. That other album wasn't very exciting (with a few exceptions), but at least it was somewhat tightly structured. This album, however, was all over the place. There was too much of nothing (other than Goin to Acapulco and Tears of Rage - both fantastic tunes). Lush, beautiful. Sounds absurdly 1980s but gets a pass for being really solid and enjoyable
