Edit: I GET IT NOW, IT TOOK ME THREE MORE LISTENS, THIS ALBUM IS A SMASH!!!
Well, well, well. I've been a fan of Sabrina's for years and it is definitely her most "free" record. She put her whole soul into it, I can feel it. The thing I loved in this record is her humor that she recklessly shows here not only in lyrics. As much as I enjoyed listening to this record, it doesn't beat Short n' Sweet and it's not even close to beating emails i can't send, but ... read more
It's a really interesting record. Really experimental - that's why I gave it only 69 out of 100 - I don't listen to albums like this often. I give projects 70 or more points if I know I'll come back to listen to it again. This time I'm not sure, so I didn't give it that much, even tho the record is well-produced and well-written. Some tracks like "Perfect Stranger" and the title track fit my vibe, so there's a chance I might listen to these again, ... read more
When I saw the critical reception and rating of this record, I really expected it to be boring and uninteresting. After a full listen, I totally don't understand its low rating. It's taken me so long to listen to this album and it's not even bad? I'm really surprised to like many of the tracks from it. It is not close to being the best album of this year, but it's not the worst one at all. Based on the low critical & public acclaim of some albums I listened to this ... read more
Oh, wow. I didn't expect this album to be so good honestly. I thought it would be an another album full of ballads, and... well it kind of is full of upbeat ones. The lyricism had me on chokehold the whole time. Conan did really good with this album!!!
I was never a 90's/00's indie rock guy, but Radiohead made me like that genre more after firstly Taylor Swift's "evermore" made me love indie music overall. I listened to three of Radiohead's albums: "In Rainbows", "The Bends", "OK Computer" and this one. In my opinion this is their weakest. I really liked the projects mentioned before and even tho each one of them has a tiny minus, they're all great, but this one... It's ... read more
The album/ep is not bad, but it's really consistent and the songs blend for me. Singles are in my opinion the only songs that stand out. Maybe it's just because I don't listen to this type of music.
I've been pushing back the first listen to this album for months for no particular reason. I've listened to all the released singles and really liked them all. I'm not a person, who likes k-pop, so I was happy, that Jennie tried different sounds and did it very well. The album slows down for the last three tracks which is okay, but I don't really enjoy tracks like that being at the end. Still, a very well-produced and written album, in comparison to Lisa's "Alter ... read more
Well... this album is exactly what I expected to hear after seeing this score and reviews. I never listened to mgk's music but I do know his voice. I heard cliche on a random day and thought of it as a pretty mid song, and as much as it is one, it's one of the best on this record. The album is based mostly on the same rhythm, vibe & lyricism even tho as mgk himself said "he's switching genres". I hear it and I don't. Cringed out many times especially during ... read more
Gaga really meant it when she said "fuck you, pop music - this is ARTPOP", because it is art pop. First five songs totally had me jumping and vibing, while the rest still did have me vibing, but not much. The part from MANiCURE to Dope made me kind of feel like I'm in a loop of the first tracks but arranged differently, however Gypsy brought me back just in time for Applause. It all didn't change my final opinion - the album is amazing and I now can understand why the fans ... read more
Let me start this review with: indie rock was not my thing until recently. My friend loves Radiohead and bullied me into listening to their music. I did end up listening to three of their albums and liking them all. After some time, this album by Weezer kept showing up literally everywhere I was and later found out that my friend likes this album too. I finally sat down and listened to it today and let me say something. I'm into indie rock but not THAT into it. The first listen to an album ... read more
So glad to hear Naomi's own sound after releasing the Skye Riley EP. I hate the pressure people are putting on her for not releasing stuff like that anymore, I really do wish she made some more music like for Smile 2 as well, but THIS is her sound and y'all gotta accept that. I love this song.
Best EP ever, live, life, love Skye Riley. Naomi is fucking banging!!!! She's the best!!!!
Oh, wow??? I didn't think I'd ever listen to that album, but after my obsession with "Sue Me" began, I wanted to see what Audrey's got and how she'd sound on a full-length record. Well, she's doing really great. I honestly didn't think I'd like this album considering it's really silly and ironic, but it's full of really good songs with great production and songwriting. She sounds so much like Gracie Abrams and I just knew she had something ... read more
Before you gasp and want to curse me out for this rate - hear me out. Laufey's an amazing singer and songwriter and this album is a huge proof. Instrumentalism is really beautiful and hypnotizing, but it's just not "that" for me. I'm a guy, whose favorite genre is pop and that's what I listen to everyday - upbeat pop. This album is not really upbeat and at some points it was kind of monotonic for me, which doesn't mean it's bad at all. Summing up - if you ... read more
I'm so surprised I actually really like this album. I do find sombr really passionate and talented, I liked his previously released singles, but I didn't think this album would be for me and... wow here I am. An amazing and interesting debut album. Peak lyricsm, hypnotizing instrumentals and sombr undeniably incredible vocals. It's just too short. I need like two more songs. Anyways, I guess I'm a sombaddie now?
Edit:
AOTY, my first 100 this year. So deserving, I'm in love with this record.
Can't believe I finally get to rate Ava's new album after two and a half years. I've been a huge huge fan of hers for 5 years. Been there for both of her previous albums and loved them so much. This one tho. This one is her best album and I did claim it that during listening to the first track and made sure at the end. I'm saying this as a huge stan od H&H. That album helped me shape my ... read more
I expected much from this record as "Snow Angel" was really good & the singles released before this album were promising - and I can tell you, "BITE ME" totally didn't disappoint me. It's a really fun & at the same time really vulnerable record - this with Reneé makes a perfect combination. Loved the lyricism and production. This is pure Reneé Rapp.
An underrated pop masterpiece. Mabel doesn't play and you can hear it on this album. She's got everything a pop girl needs, yet she's overlooked!
As a 5SOS fan, from the very beginning of the journey of being one, I wanted a solo album from Michael. I didn't think he was getting a lot of attention and space in the newer stuff and I love his voice. Now we've got one and it's exactly what I've expected. I was surprised to hear so many vulnerable and personal tracks though. They hit really hard. What shocked me was the length. 27 minutes??? That's nowhere close to enough and I'm expecting a deluxe. But overall, ... read more
the best single so far, such a banger, idk why it's so hated here.
