completely ahead of its time, it has perfect songs or as close to perfection as "party 4 u" "visions” “detonate” but the album drops a bit in score because of “c2.0” and “anthems”
god forbid a woman have fun!
i know where the bad reviews of this album are coming from, i think this work is created as a celebration that only a certain group of people can relate to. some songs have moments where the production sounds kind of corny (the chorus of "butterfly", "final boss", etc.), but overall this album is a masterclass in happiness, vulnerability, and authenticity.
i'm a diamond, my enthusiasm might influence my review, but it's still worth ... read more
IS MY HEAAAD IN THE WAY CAUSE MY HEART CANT EXPLAIN. bonita producción, un album bueno para escuchar mientras trabajas por la noche, y q hermosa voz tiene Kelela. Mi fav es all the way down
this album is one of the best i've ever heard, and i still find myself listening to at least one song from it daily. it's a total party that celebrates the black and ballroom culture of the 90s. i'm totally vibing with it, feeling like a new york faguette, lol. no songs to skip here, although thique is my least favorite. my top picks are cuff it, pure/honey, and heated - and honestly, heated is perfection.
solange has such a sweet voice, i loved "jerrod", "binz", "stay flo", and "my skin my logo". this album is a celebration of black culture. honestly, though, i didn't connect with a lot of the songs, and i'm not a fan of albums with a lot of interludes. some songs, like "down with the clique", felt kinda empty to me, instrumentally speaking
this album is a deep journey that you get lost in thanks to natalie's sweet voice and the gorgeous instrumentals. "god turn me into a flower" is such an emotional song, i personally connect with it on a deep level, and with other songs on the album too. however, there are some small gaps in the album that, in my opinion, make it a bit dull. my favorite songs are "god turn me into a flower", "twin flame", and "hearts aglow” - “a given ... read more
