King Khan & His Shrines - Three Hairs and You're Mine
NR

How can you not love how fun this is?

Eels - EELS TIME!
75

Best Eels in years. Haunted Hero is amazing

Tom Odell - money
80

Idk, as far as satirizing capitalism, "gonna buy my house a family" goes hard

Blur - Blur
70

Man, f--k y'all. Theme From Retro is incredible

Super Furry Animals - Radiator
75

Feel like I'm crazy cause people put this one on a pedestal but I think it pales in comparison to their best, amazing album Fuzzy Logic

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Flight b741
94

Just a really fun, breezy album - if you like 70's rock riffs. Closer to something like Fishies than Infest the Rats Nest

The Killers - Day & Age
60

How can those first 3 tracks be so dang good and the rest so mid

Spacehog - Resident Alien
91

A-tier glam rock for those who love glam rock

I adore this album. One of the best projects of the 90s and some of the best glam rock after the 70s. Royston is incredible on vocals (and plays bass at the same time!) and Craigg is an amazing drummer. Though I imagine it might not do much for people who aren't the kind that love T.Rex and Bowie. It flounders a bit in the second act so-to-say but finishes strong

Viva Voce - Get Yr Blood Sucked Out
80

No it's not perfect, but goddamn does it have impeccable vibes

Andy Cato - Times & Places (Sketches From The Road)
81

Really smooth, methodical, and inspired techno from half of Groove Armada. Scratches the itch for more of their sound from Vertigo

RJD2 - Visions Out Of Limelight
72

Feels like the most consistently good album RJ has put out in years

Sixfingerz - Midnight Finger Gymnastics
97

Mysterious sounding, rich soundscapes, inventive and imaginative. One of the best and unique in the genre

Cotton Jones - Paranoid Cocoon
85

More understated than the excellent River Strumming but continues the thematic narrative with a gut punch ending. I think CJ's lyricism is fully unique and entrancing

Cotton Jones - The River Strumming
98

Endlessly magical and mysterious

Gooseworx & Evan Alderete - The Amazing Digital Circus Episode 2 (Original Webseries Soundtrack)
65

Serviceable with only one or two standout moments. But as the second episode of a cartoon it doesn't really need to be much more than that

Jon Of The Shred - Landing Gear
79

Some crazy bass and guitar going on in this album. The name "of the Shred" justifies itself. Consistency is a bit wobbly but something like Moon Shards is genuinely one of the best I've heard in its lane. I appreciate the theatrical nature of its closing track but, sigh, it doesn't quite stick the landing.

The Zutons - The Big Decider
76

Like Tired of Hanging Around but a little less good but a lot funkier. Trades most of their signature sleazy quirks for good vibes instead. Surprisingly consistent for a 16 year gap. Didn't disappoint me and I'm a big fan of theirs

MGMT - Loss of Life
73

I think it's impossible to divorce their lyricism from the vulnerability they exposed on LDA. That is to say, this album is more talk of depression and revolutionary spirit (if you missed that last one I don't know how. Hand It Over is about as blatant a socialist anthem you can get without saying "hand over the means of production")

In the steps of Portugal. The Man's Evil Friends or Cotton Jones' Paranoid Cocoon, the duo explore feelings of doubt, feeling like a betrayer to the ... read more
