Feel like I'm crazy cause people put this one on a pedestal but I think it pales in comparison to their best, amazing album Fuzzy Logic
Just a really fun, breezy album - if you like 70's rock riffs. Closer to something like Fishies than Infest the Rats Nest
A-tier glam rock for those who love glam rock
I adore this album. One of the best projects of the 90s and some of the best glam rock after the 70s. Royston is incredible on vocals (and plays bass at the same time!) and Craigg is an amazing drummer. Though I imagine it might not do much for people who aren't the kind that love T.Rex and Bowie. It flounders a bit in the second act so-to-say but finishes strong
Really smooth, methodical, and inspired techno from half of Groove Armada. Scratches the itch for more of their sound from Vertigo
Mysterious sounding, rich soundscapes, inventive and imaginative. One of the best and unique in the genre
More understated than the excellent River Strumming but continues the thematic narrative with a gut punch ending. I think CJ's lyricism is fully unique and entrancing
Serviceable with only one or two standout moments. But as the second episode of a cartoon it doesn't really need to be much more than that
Some crazy bass and guitar going on in this album. The name "of the Shred" justifies itself. Consistency is a bit wobbly but something like Moon Shards is genuinely one of the best I've heard in its lane. I appreciate the theatrical nature of its closing track but, sigh, it doesn't quite stick the landing.
Like Tired of Hanging Around but a little less good but a lot funkier. Trades most of their signature sleazy quirks for good vibes instead. Surprisingly consistent for a 16 year gap. Didn't disappoint me and I'm a big fan of theirs
I think it's impossible to divorce their lyricism from the vulnerability they exposed on LDA. That is to say, this album is more talk of depression and revolutionary spirit (if you missed that last one I don't know how. Hand It Over is about as blatant a socialist anthem you can get without saying "hand over the means of production")
