AllMusic

Eels Time! sounds thoughtful, heartfelt, and warmly human in a way that's not typical for Everett and his cohorts.

Mojo

With childhood friend Sean Coleman aboard to coax Brian Wilson-ness from the 1980s'-penned And You Run, and tunes as charming as Breezy Sweet Smile, let's be grateful that Eels Time! rolls on.

Spill Magazine

EELS TIME! is not the best record from EELS, but any fan of the band will enjoy their latest record a lot.

Record Collector
Over the course of 12 bittersweet tracks, it becomes clearer and clearer just how lucky we are to be around for any time.

Classic Rock
An impeccable, emotionally undulating, ultimately defiant set of songs from an old master.

Hot Press

Listening to Eels’ 15th studio album, partly recorded in Dublin, you can draw a line back to the electro-shock of their 1996 debut, Beautiful Freak.

PopMatters

On Eels Time!, Mark Oliver Everett offers up his many different temperaments and reminds us why he is cautiously optimistic despite the pervading melancholy.

Those who love E at his most contemplative will find plenty to like.

Spectrum Culture
Eels Time!, in spite of its refreshingly goofy title, is more of the same self-seriousness that occasionally morphs into outright mawkishness.

Now one could ask oneself: "How much Eels does a guy need?" And one could rate "Eels Time!" under this particular perspective, because the full album doesn't live up with the opener in the long run. I think there are better Eels albums from earlier ... read more

There's still the powerful and at times beautiful lyrics, from Everett. Alas, once again, it feels like another album being churned out, rather than crafted. A stronger effort than the previous two but altogether rather forgetful.

Nonetheless, this new album means I'll end up doing a deep dive into the earlier work which is always nostalgic and remarkable.

EELS TIME! (what a title huh?) is the next installment in the saga of EELS. First of all, hang on is that a bare foot on the cover? Mark Oliver Everett OnlyFans for feetpics when? Secondly, this just goes to show how profilic of a songwriter Everett really is and just like in the past, he manages to get out material for albums fast enough to keep the pace going. Last time we got the excellent Extreme Witchcraft. Can he live up to it?

The answer is both yes and no. The album as a whole is ... read more
