I am finding to consistently have the same issue with Wallows, where there are a couple of songs I like in their discography but in terms of full albums, the songwriting and consistency just tends to fall a bit short. This album isn’t terrible and I can see the appeal. The middle of the album is too samey though and the lyrics are super cookie cutter.
Great record, very fun indie rock that just sounds like bedroom lounging. It’s a super easy listen, but it’s also very fun! Lots of cool production choices, love their take fact we got Cole to sing his own song on a full length project too. This used to be my favorite wallows project, and although it isn’t anymore I still have a deep and fond love for it.
