Things Sara Evans did: that.
Love the way she's channeling 70's rock through her twang. it's a rich tapestry of songs she chose to cover, with some great harmonies. The highlight is the blissful cover of The Pretenders "Don't Get Me Wrong".
Look, it's a bit dense and self-indulgent, but I will follow Sufjan down whatever rabbit hole he wants to take me. I love the sonics. It's thick and threatening and very electronic. I prefer orchestral Sufjan on principle, but have no qualms with noise pop Sufjan. I'm ascending.
Mama said, let me re-invent disco real quick, hold my glass of chablis.
It’s her best album since The Fame Monster. Bonus points for the Chromatica II/911 transition. That’s some galaxy brian shit. There are some skips (Free Woman, Replay, Babylon) but the bops (Rain On Me, Enigma, 1,000 Doves) mostly outweigh.
