Such an incredible range of anger and pain conveyed via religious imagery on this masterpiece of an album.
Maybe the most easy to listen album I have ever encountered, while still being rich with passion and soul. Certainly no coincidence that this is one of the most agreeable, timeless classics ever made.
Overall a very enjoyable experience, but I felt it trailed off a tiny bit in side 4, and the clarity of the storytelling was a bit underwhelming. Still plenty of great moments though.
This is the record that made me properly understand the appeal of Nina Simone. The range of emotions across each track is mind blowing, and I especially love "Why Keep On Breaking My Heart", which for me characterises finding romance even in heartbreak, though slower tracks like the iconic "Wild is the Wind" are equally incredible.

An album that has had incalculable influence, and remains a perfect album experience, from the iconic snare opening of "Like a Rolling Stone" to the drawn out, mellow closer "Desolation Row"
