starts a bit weak, ends VERY strong. genuinely some great moments in here and most definitely worth a listen. excited to see where you guys go from here!
very calming, i needed this
edit: finally revisiting this after 6 months. still an incredibly calming, wonderful listen.
after listening to The Glowing Man and having such a unique and ethereal experience, i was worried about trying the rest of the trilogy or really any other Swans album again, as i knew nothing would quite capture the same energy. however, upon finally returning to the band, i can say that i was completely right in the best way possible. The Seer is meditative, monumental, and monstrous. it is unlike anything i've ever heard and possibly the best way to convey "endless" in the form of ... read more
some really strong moments, but also some not so strong moments. i enjoyed it for sure, but i probably won't be coming back much.
in preparation for their new album, i decided to listen to The Smile's debut. it's good. great, even! my biggest complaint is that it takes until the 4th track to actually ramp up to the level of quality i expected. after Pana-Vision, the whole album becomes a beautiful, energetic, engaging, and more cohesive experience.

listened to this in full again after about a year and a half with a new pair of headphones. and oh my god. this is one of the best-sounding albums ever, i swear. everything fits so well into place and just- holy shit. the lyrics, the performance, the drama, and the instrumental all come together in one of the most harsh and beautiful cacophonies of sound humanly possible. the best part is, i had already known this for forever, since it was one of the first albums i ever heard. ... read more
was originally gonna write a really long review for this, but recently i've found albums i like more than this one. i'll probably do some really in-depth stuff for plastic death. here's the draft i made for the introduction:
“the first glass beach album” is possibly the most important piece of art in my life.
It started while on call with a good friend of mine in early November, 2021. We were listening to a bunch of songs he’d gotten into that week to see if I’d like ... read more

just clicked for real this time. wasn't sure if i got it before, so i lowered my rating for a while. listening to this on vinyl really completed the experience for me, along with it also being very cold and snowy outside. the whole beginning of this year has been hellish, so to see an album capture my feelings in such a masterful way is extremely cathartic. absolute masterpiece all the way through. "My Warm Blood" thoroughly destroyed me ... read more
in recent times, this is the only album that's been able to help calm me down when things get rough. 1/1 is one of the most peaceful soundscapes ever created.
was gonna give this like a 90 until the last 10 minutes happened. holy fucking shit dude, why did i sleep on this so much??? this was so beautiful it made me cry, which is a serious achievement. the ambience of everything from the reverb to the crowd themselves was just so impeccable. can't wait until the day i decide to give this another spin. what an amazing experience, especially for it all being performed live.
[possible full review, this has definitely had an impact on me]
WOW. I didn't expect to be so absolutely enthralled by this at all. the whole thing is so full of life and energy that i can't help but adore it. sure, the Teens of Denial stuff could've been better along with Bodys, but other than those songs, i really don't have any issues. seriously makes me wanna see these guys live as soon as possible.
[92] --> [85] simply grew off a bit, but still a very respectable entry in their discography imo
was expecting this to be a lot worse, but honestly the production and mixing are pretty nice. the lyrics are really surface-level in my opinion, but it does still feel like the band matured and made something alright. not gonna come back to it, but it wasn't a bad listen.
really wish this was an album, the sonic quality of everything is absolutely mesmerizing. it feels like i've just been dragged into the abyss and witnessed some wack shit. absolutely outstanding, especially the first two tracks.
i got basically nothing out of this. not super surprised though considering i don't really like blink-182 at all in the first place. some songs were good, like "BAD NEWS" and "MORE THAN YOU KNOW," but others like "EDGING" alongside some horrible overproduction (cough DRUMS cough) bring it all down. if you enjoy this, i don't really blame you, because it does have its fair share of catchy and "party-like fun" moments. it just isn't for me in the slightest.
