The album cover is really cool. The music sounds like a lazy Young Thug and a Walmart Carti. I have trouble taking Nine Vicious seriously, following everything that has been going on with his allegations. Some songs are pretty cool, but whatever.
Fav Track: Takin Swag
Least Fav: Chaos
It's an ok batch of songs, but I understand why they didn't make the cut.
Fav Track: Behold
Least Fav: Animals (Pt. I)
I was really looking forward to this following this singlesmbut unfortunately, it feels really packed. The songs are way longer than they should be, and their long runtime makes the album drag on for so long.. The songs that hit are some of the best in the Pi'erre Bourne discography, though.
Fav Tracks: Bon Appétit, Blocs, Sait
Least Fav: Violette
This release is very varied in terms of sound as well as eclectic in its feature lineup. I think this works in its favour, though, as the large amount of tracks to time could make the whole thing blend together. I do think the features may take a lot of space, and that the record is a bit inconsistent, naturally, with the number of tracks it has.
Fav Tracks: NOLA, Abandon Me, Red Light
Least Fav: Danny's Track
A very eclectic mixtape of ghais. While not as grand or conceptual as his other releases, I think this is a fun album. His vocals are crazy, and the beats have so much going on.
Fav Tracks: FOMO, C.I.A. Psyop, Nina Narcissist
Least Fav: ...And Everything In It
Lorde follows up on Solar Power well. A good return to form for the pop star after an underwhelming release in 2021. She has some really powerful songs on there that tackle unique topics in her discography. Overall, the album is pretty consistent. The only gripe I have is that some instrumentals feel too laid back or uneventful.
Fav Tracks: Man Of The Year, Broken Glass, David
Least Fav: GRWM
This album is ridiculously hard. Every single song has you headbopping. The Scouse accent adds so much to his flow and the dark, heavy beats. The reason the UK underground is thriving is because of its constant innovation and branching out, compared to how stale the American mainstream has become.
Fav Tracks: 4 Raws, Rottweiler, Tartan
Least Fav: LV Sandals
A lot less chaotic and intense than most of the King Gizzard records that I have heard. I feel like a lot of the tracks are amazing, while some don't hit the mark. Overall, the album is still a pleasant listen; it's just a bit inconsistent. a mixed bag of sorts.
Fav Tracks: Phantom Island, Silent Spirit, Grow Wings and Fly
Fav Tracks: Sea of Doubt
A really solid and consistent mixtape by Kaycyy. His voice and singing are great on this type of production. The whole album is very groovy and poppy. I still feel like Kaycyy has the talent to go even further and push boundaries. Hopefully, he does in the future.
Fav Tracks: STUDIO, ROBBIN DREAMS, FUNNY FUNNY
Least Fav: GET ME HOME
Surprisingly not bad at all. Tecca's melodies are catchy and smooth. He continues to display his talent in making a catchy hook, and clearly, it's working following the massive success of this release. I really thought he was going to fall into obscurity following his whole wave with ransom and other tracks, but he's still thriving.
Fav Tracks: Dark Thoughts, The Truth, Boys Don't Try
Least Fav: Tic Tac Toe
Unc still got it. I was expecting something a lot more forced coming from old man Rick, but he still sounds as smooth as ever. Some of the beats sélection leaves to be desired, but overall, Rick's flow is timeless. Solid effort for a guy his age.
Fav Tracks: Stress, Landlord, Documents
Least Fav: I Did That
A consistent release from the band. The vocals are the clear best feature of the band. The choruses are catchy, fun, and the synths and keys used often add a nice ethereal touch to the instrumentation. Overall, consistently good. The title track is probably going to slot somewhere in my top 10 tracks of the year.
Fav Tracks: NEVER ENOUGH, LOOK OUT FOR ME, SLOWDIVE
Least Fav: MAGIC MAN
McKinley keeps evolving after every release. This album sounds more cinematic than the last in a good way. His pen and his flow are as good as ever, and the production he raps on compliments his style so well. All of the features excel and benefit the quality of the record.
Fav Tracks: Sugar Water, Listen Gentle, Could've Been Different
Least Fav: F.F.OL.
Before this album, I had only listened to the single Young, and I was quite worried about the sound of this release. Luckily, I was proven wrong, and Little Simz adds another great, meaningful project to her catalogue. The final act truly shines and boasts some of the brightest moments not just on this album, but throughout her entire discography. The emotion in her voice is displayed incredibly well.
Fav Tracks: Lotus, Lonely, Blue
Least Fav: Young
This is such a phenomenal jazz rap album. One of the fastest ways 37 minutes can pass.. The verses are purposeful and full of soul. The production is beautiful and complements John michel so well. Kennedi has some of my favourite features of the year on both her appearances on this, too.
Fav Tracks: Don't Save Me, NOBODY, worlds end
Least Fav: Sunday Morning, Genesis
Addison Rae making some of the best pop music of the year might be the biggest surprise of the year for me. Her ear for fun ethereal beats and her ability to make an amazing chorus shine throughout the album.
Fav Tracks: Money is Everything, Fame is a Gun, Headphones On
Least Fav: In The Rain
a solid addition to the Aesop Rock catalogue. He shows yet again that not many mcs can match his lyrical game and that he is one of the elite lyricists of our generation. His lyricism is undeniable. I just think some beats were more uninspired.
Fav Tracks: So Be It, Black Plums, Unbelievable Shenanigans
Least Fav: John Something
As much as I love Rome, I didn't feel like this album stood out in an especially unique manner. His raps are great, and the beats are solid, but I feel like it doesn't mesh smoothly together.
Fav Tracks: Died 1000 Times
Least Fav: Electric Slide
