Swans - Birthing
80

The final big sound Swan's album, and it's more than a satisfying end. The whole album feels grand and euphoric and truly feels like a final send-off. It's their best album since The Glowing Man, and it has some of the band's best and most unique moments.
Fav Tracks: The Healers, I Am a Tower, Birthing
Least Fav: Red Yellow

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful
75

I'm so surprised to have liked a Miley project. I'm not the biggest fan of her voice generally, but the instrumentals more than make up for it. I actually love a lot of her vocal performances on this. One of my most surprisingly good albums of the year.
Fav Tracks: Something Beautiful, End of the World, Walk of Fame
Least Fav: Pretend You're God

ApolloRed1 - Midnight Blassic
43

The only real reason I gave this a listen is because of his relation to opium, and I mean, it's not bad? I have trouble seeing how he stands out. His beat selection is decent, but he doesn't give me a reason to return to his stuff.
Fav Track: Georgia Boy
Least Fav: Chanel Shooter

Kali Uchis - Sincerely,
80

Probably her most stunning album yet. It's also he most consistent release in my opinion. She leaves almost no room for filler. This album is just so full of love and happiness, I assume, after the birth of her child. It's felt throughout the tracklist and vocals.
Fav Tracks: Heaven is a Home..., Sugar! Honey! Love!, ILYSMIH
Least Fav: Lose My Cool

billy woods - GOLLIWOG
88

Billy Woods is back to solo material, and it's one of his most unique albums yet. He takes a very "horror" lane with this one, and it goes over extremely well. The samples are dark and rustic, which helps build this world of despair and hauntedness. His performance is great as per usual, and the concept he shapes is innovative.
Fav Tracks: Misery, BLK ZMBY, Born Alone
Least Fav: BLK XMAS

André 3000 - 7 piano sketches
50

If this didn't have the Andre 3000 name, it wouldn't get nearly as much traction as it did. Some ideas are cool, but overall, it's very you get what you get.
Fav Track: off rhythm laughter
Least Fav: hotel lobby pianos

MIKE - Pinball II
64

This MIKE release felt somewhat unnecessary, given its release so shortly after Showbiz. The songs are not bad at all, but I feel like it's a drop in quality compared to the first Pinball. Despite this, a lot of the tracks are catchy and fun.
Fav Tracks: Sin City, Amiri, Jumanji
Least Fav: Shaq & Kobe

Men I Trust - Equus Caballus
75

As their second release of the year, this album is different enough from the first one to warrant its own release. I think the highs are higher, but overall, I found it a little bit less consistent. Still such a relaxing, cozy listen.
Fav Tracks: To Ease You, Come Back Down, Ring of Past (2025)
Least Fav: Eris (Wait)

PinkPantheress - Fancy That
93

The definition of all killer no filler. Also, the definition of short and sweet. Every song is poppy and feels good. It's 20 minutes of some of the best dance tracks of the year. Her vocals are so soft but fit so well over the melodic synthy beats.
Fav Tracks: Tonight, Stars, Nice to Know You
Least Fav: Girl Like Me

Key Glock - Glockaveli
77

While less consistent than his last LP, Key Glock once again proves that he is one of the best southern MCs rapping right now. His beat selection is on point, and his flow is extremely addictive.
Fav Tracks: Glockaveli, Blue Devil, 3AM in ToKEYo
Least Fav: I’m Getting It

Boldy James - Conversational Pieces
75

The best and most consistent project Boldy has put out from his last 8 releases. Boldy is on a crazy dropping streak, dropping a bunch of projects that are usually pretty stale or uninspired, but this one hits the mark. Real Bad Man presents some refreshing production and Boldy's Raps match him very well. The outro might be one of his best songs ever.
Fav Tracks: Fear of God, Come Back Around, Conversational Pieces
Least Fav: Class Clown

Yung Lean - Jonatan
81

The new Yung Lean album is him at his most vulnerable. It's unlike anything he's dropped under the Yung Lean pseudonym. The vocals are raw, and the choruses are extremely catchy. I actually love the awkward and heartfelt vocals, I think it adds to the vulnerability of the album.
Fav Tracks: Might Not B, Horses, I'm Your Dirt, I'm Your Love
Least Fav: Forever Yung

Model/Actriz - Pirouette
85

Super groovy and dark, moody punk music. The rush this album gives you is very immediate, kicking off in the first seconds. this album takes you on a journey leaving you crushed at the end.
Fav Tracks: Vespers, Cinderella, Doves
Least Fav: Audience

Flume - We Live In A Society
50

Feels like lost potential between the two. Everything feels so surface-level and doesn't have the charm most of Peggy's music has. just feels like an unnecessary drop that escaped the draft stage.
Fav Track: Is It Real
Least Fav: Track 1

Car Seat Headrest - The Scholars
65

I feel like some of the shorter songs are a detriment to what this album tries to achieve. The longer, more developed tracks are beautiful and my favourites off the album. has some really high highs, but I feel like it's missing something at times.
Fav Tracks: CCF (I'm Gonna Stay With You), Gethsemane, Reality
Least Fav: Devereaux

Natalia Lafourcade - Cancionera
82

A stunning and beautiful album. The arrangements suit Natalias voice incredibly well, and it gives off a feeling of richness, but not in a snobby way, you know.
Fav Tracks: Apertura Cancionera, Cancionera, Luna Creciente
Least Fav: Mascaritas de Cristal

Viagra Boys - viagr aboys
70

A fun and consistent follow-up to their 2022 LP. It is a bit on the quirkier side, which I think works for itself. The vocals are dominant, and the choruses are some of their catchiest. I think some instrumentals are more uninspired than on their last, but it still isn't bad.
Fav Tracks: Man Made of Meat, Uno II, Waterboy
Least Fav: The Pyramid of Health

Gunna - The Last Wun
12

This album was so long and brain-numbing. The beats all sound so similar, and I feel like all of them feel like nothing, unseasoned pasta. Listening to things in one take is not for the faint of heart.
Fav Tracks: let that sink in
Least Fav: fuck witcha boy

Lil Durk - Deep Thoughts
30

The only reason Lil Durk would put out an album in the situation he was in is probably because he wanted to pay his legal bills. The album is bland and as uninspired as you would expect a 2025 Lil Durk album to sound. I honestly don't know why I listened.
Fav Tracks: Monitering Me
Least Fav: 1000 Times

Blu - Forty
75

A solid addition to the Blu catalogue. The raps are as fresh as they were decades ago, and they show his maturity and evolution as an MC. The beats are really nice too. I love the sample chops on this album. The song "Love" is a masterpiece and a highlight of the year.
Fav Tracks, Love, Happy, Joy
Least Fav: Bible
