The album is the definition of having "the fall off", in the sense that the album starts off strong, with three banger songs back to back but then the song quality just drops at the freestyle and never recovers. The album not only falters in quality but also somehow theming, as what made the previous tracks great or rather what helped them become intoxicating to hear over and over again, gets stipped away.
INTRO is the best ambient/interlude track on the album as it sets up the ... read more
This song feels more like a sample that would be used by Boards Of Canada for an ambient track then an actual ambient track on it's own, comparing it to BOC or any other ambient artist shows that this track lacks that real kick to it that makes it addictive, it feels like it is missing that one simple, subtle but crucial adjustment that could really make the song feel calming or even nostalgic which is what this song is seemingly going for.
Some really nice piano ambience tracks that go for and basically nail the feeling of that early 2000's video game feel. Despite only being five tracks, there still feels like there was enough here to satisfy, each track while having similar or the exact same octave/key shifted/tempod pianos, each have a smooth layer of electronic doohickys that keep the album fresh without becoming overbearing at all.
The album starts off really well with underwater discoveries, which acts as more of the ... read more
In WaveBows: EDM Version
White Rectangle Man decided to drop one of the cleanest and tit nit EDM projects this year with one of the most painful album covers ever holy hell it hurts my eyes. Jamie has made an album that is filled to brim with banger songs that feel like if Daft Punk made clean EDM music. The album was released on the surprisingly unknown and great album producing label Young, which were behind FKA Twigs, Kamasi Washington and Sampha, all artists who have released critically ... read more
"I have two sides, but luckily for you, the nice one is out" type music
While I won't proclaim to be the biggest metal or rock head on the planet, I can recognise the amount of pure, respectful and understanding effort on display. A lot of acts now a days feel like they use rock to give songs more of a kick so they can sell better on the radio but this feels like someone who is immersed within the culture and really understands what makes the genre work, someone who could tell a ... read more

should have been called "Vetus" or "Yezuran" or even "New Thugs, Slaves Tear"
The song either works really well and sometimes it hurts me ears, I would say there are more good moments then bad moments but the bad moments are really bad. The best thing about most mashups is the times where the makers tweek the songs to add new, more ingenuitive ideas that weren't present in either songs, like in this song where Izzy cuts the voice line at "Bitch ... read more
SCREW YOU, I LISTENED TO THE SPOTIFY VERSION EARLY AND IT SUCKE... oh wait it was kinda good
M4y4h4n, M4y4FLAC, Kron The Idiot, all alias or artist personas by AOTY's own home grown Kron, a persistent person who has put out tens of album in the span of a year to some praise, some hate but never boredom. People always stuck by Kron, myself included cause it felt like Kron was always going to do something different each week and it was interesting to listen to, like AOTY's own Try Guys ... read more
While not some of the best work that the Fishmans has put out, there is still some gold in this compilation, that is a testament to how good FIshman's is, even the songs that aren't in their top 20 are still great songs.

What is on the cover that is blurred out, best comment forces me to look it up.
New single from the new Kron album dropped out of nowhere and is a goddamn bop, despite it's short length and flat start, purple laptop has easily one of my favourite Kron melodies ever, the drums loop meshes seamlessly with the synth despite the synth being quite annoying, it is also a new sound for Kron to experiment with and if it is anything like this single, it is bound to succeed.
This song is a good proof of concept, in the way that, you can see the foundation/blueprints for the sound Chris is going for clearly but, the application isn't fully cleaned up. A few people said the vocals don't fit but most of the song doesn't fit, there are some parts of the song that feel from another song like the part near the 8 minute mark, it is more abrasive and is quite "nails on a chalkboard" level hard to listen to. Overall, the song is pretty good, ... read more
Ok, this is a very misleading album cover, when I see a black and white hand covered in thorns attached to a title with the word "Die" in it, I would expect a hard, head banging metal album, not a comfy synth one :(
This album might be the best of its genre, don't know if this is one hundred percent true but it is listed as Field Recordings, a very experimental and riskey genre, utilising natural environments and phenomenon to make its sound, the unfortunate thing is the most ... read more
Ok, this is pretty bad but I think it is the prime example of so bad it's good and how bad genre mixing sounds.
UntitledOne doesn't work as a breakcore song because it is too overlayed, some of the drums beats fuse with one another in such a way that it just makes for nulled sound, also it is too much, the creator tries to add little glitches and effects throughout and it doesn't work at all, instead ruining the sound.
Afterlife and Society Afterlife are perfect for showing ... read more
This the year of AOTY music, the peak year but also the beginning. Artists like samlrc, Gonnn and Ghost Minus might have really nailed down their style and sound but. now they have to fight the top spot for best AOTY user album from newcomers who are barreling into the competition with a big boom of great music, your Nevermeants, Krons, Sleepyheads and now most recently and most intriguingly, DIgtitalized, better known as @sushidigital, Digitalized came out of nowhere with a 3 song EP and ... read more
Out of all of the song, on the EP, safe kind of falls in a weird place for me. It doesn't have any really out there experimentation in terms of sound contrasted/compared to the other two tracks especially dissonance, but this one makes up for it by really sticking to its genre, almost willing to sink down with its ship mentality. It sticks very close to it's genre and as such, anything small, good or bad about the track can really effect the overall enjoyment that one gets out of the ... read more
porter robinson reference????
It is actually fitting having the porter robinson album, Nurture as the cover art for this track (the single). This is song, like the others is an ambient track but this one really takes it in the more light and calm direction. Like the cover, it has the appeal and look of a more natural, calm song but in reality, it is very robotic, a surrealist nightmare mascarding as a joyful place, every song on this project feels eerie and this one manages to achieve it by ... read more
dissonance is definitely the most off putting song here, feeling straight out of a liminal space video from the talent side of youtube horror, everything about it just makes me shiver, the subtle yet heart pounding cracking on some of the sounds, the reversed sounding audio and the wind chimes, oh god the wind chimes. Every sound on this song, doesn't necessarily have roots in the more freakish, horror based genre but I think Digitalized knows this, everything is distorted to sound off and ... read more
Kron please, don't make me rank sexualities again.
Except for the titles, everything about this album is completely different from what Kron has ever done, taking a more breakcore approach to the sound. Now on paper that sounds good, Kron has made a lot of good and even great electronic songs with m4y4h4n and some good intense songs with Kron. However this doesn't really work, the biggest problem is the production which is bad, most of the songs sound like I am hearing them under ... read more
I had to right an speech for school, I decided to write on the declining quality of music, I had to cut the Morgan Wallen section out because it double the runtime of my speech, it's that bad.
Here's what I wrote "A recent example of the negative effects of pushing politics in music is the ironic nature of Morgan Wallen’s music, an aspiring country artist who was making headlines with some classic country songs, Morgan Wallen was becoming the figure head of country music ... read more
Yeah this new Ghost Minus track, it's not bad.
GhostMinus, often called the Jamie XX of AOTY, by me, released this new track and because I laid off listening to the new album because I am lazy, I decided to listen to this track and yeah, it's alright.
I can't really say I am a huge fan of the instrumental, there is really only two components, the drums and synth, the drums are good but the synth isn't bad, the problem is that the synth does not work with the drums, it ... read more
