This song is honestly better then 90% of pop song on the radio.
The hook is very catchy, both the drum beat and guitar riff feel very on point, working well together while neither the drums or guitar are overbearing and the lyrics/vocal performance are very somber, it is very unique to use old western tropes in lyrics to describe modern relationships but this manages to do it well, the "and it's my town so" line being the best example of it.
The cover art, production and ... read more
Imagine making a great shoegaze song and then on the same day, 파란노을 [Parannoul] releases one of the best shoegaze albums of all time, unlucky.
I think this is quite a good song, the beat is quite elegant and think the production deliberately being overblown for the drums works well for the tempo and sound of the song. I feel like a lot worked on this song, everything little loop or instrument felt like it really fit together like a puzzle piece to a puzzle, some of Post Moderns other ... read more
STFU, this my guilty pleasure song, shure the vocal mixing is ass and the horns are so blown out you can barely tell that there horns but the beat is fun and the hook is catchy
This album is a mess, a roller coaster of production quality, rapping and theme but it is somehow really cool nonetheless. EDIT: Nevermind, this albums gets worse with every relisten, it has only been out for hours by now and it is already annoying the shit out of me. EDIT 2: Oh wow this is awful, so much mid, a lot of bad and little good, the score (both mine and user) is going from 80 to 40 in matter of minutes.
The album has been out for about an hour now and already the reviews for this ... read more
This is certainly noise pop, except the pop part I am little more suspicious of
David Aiguoba AKA Son Of Whyachi released this 7 track EP on to internet and it got a very middling response from those they sent it to which stuck me as odd given Unparalleled Consonance mostly positive yet less substantial reception, my confusion was met with udder pathelement when opun opening the soundcloud version of the album, seeing it listed under over 10 tags of genres ranging from Ambient to Breakcore to ... read more
Ok the album is out now, it isn't anything that special or a big artistic statement, it was just me experimenting with my sound and figuring out what direction I wanna go in. This is mainly a electronic record that doesn't know what it wants to be.
It has been a month since I made the album and as such I have grown and shrunk on my enjoyment on some of the tracks. I will say that tracks like Nothing Natural, Our Outro Music and Dead Internet are my biggest regrets while Zen, Crystal ... read more
The king of AOTY user music has finally delivered some music for us mere mortals to listen to and it is, nothing that any of our brains can comprehend.
Fellow AOTY user @Misterpandaren dropped this three track EP, showing the progress and history of YGN's musical work with an album that is presented as a mix between Aphex Twin and Against All Odds. Funnily enough that is what the music sounds like, two different yet thematically similar sounds being mixed into one, each song, apart from ... read more
:D REVIEW D: NOT :D DONE D: YET :D BUT D: STILL :D ENJOY D: MY :D SMILE D:
I was writing this review before the album came out, just as sort of a way to tone down my excitement and trying to remain unbiased but wow this was even better then what I thought, I believe nothing could top CHeerleader or Russian Roulette but no, they both got put down to 2nd and 4th favorite, that is how good this album is, this review is also most likely over 1000+ words, I like it that much.
Before even really ... read more
I'm very disappointed, this is the most normal sounding title from Kron ever, bring back "Furry Threesome Porn", "I kidnapped, tortured and killed a zoophile cause i’m bored" and the classic "slay high asf (feat. Kam)"
Another Kron classic ambient track, this one probably feels the least ambitious, maybe because it wasn't made for an album like the other ones but I like the simplicity of this one, the synth beat changes enough to keep me through it ... read more
Something something good demo.
This a very good shoegaze song especially for what I assume is a first "official" attempt at it, the song never really feel like it starts or is built up to a certain point cause most of the sounds from the instruments are very closely tied together both rhythmically and volumetrically. the only sound the sticks out is the hi hat on the drums but aside from that, they are all very beautifully sinked. There is nothing really wrong in the production, ... read more
This is a slow burn, despite only being 4 and a half minutes the song keeps its cards to its chest for as long as it can and in some ways that is both a net positive and a net negative for the song.
For the positive, it helps the listener really get lost in the song, for the first 2 minutes the song is basically just a single guitar loop that doesn't change octaves or chords but only has little other sounds added to it, this wouldn't normally work but because of how the production is ... read more
As a lover of ambient and AOTY user music I can safely say that this is a good song and great debut song.
The song quite efficiently sets the sone for any future releases from L4ZER as it nails down the dark ambient sound while utilising some synths to really give the song an otherworldly feel to it. The volume of the song is also seemingly in a wavy pattern, going silent to normal in the right amount of pace needed for ambience, not too fast to make it sound to embracive and not to slow so it ... read more
Walker Hayes raps like Revival Eminem turned up to 100, there are so many corny bars in the song that my neck nearly broke from all the double takes I had to do. "911 my emergency is my woman" and "I want to take you, like a a deep breath" are just so close to the so bad their good line but if they weren't bad, they would just blend boringly into the song anyway.
Connor Price is on here which is weird to say because it is his song but Walker Hayes is just more of a ... read more
YEAH, SCREW YOU GHOST, I TRY TO HAVE A DISCUSSION WITH YOU AND YOU JUST CALLED ME NAMES, THIS IS SO FIRE, NO WONDER YOU DIDN'T DROP, YOU SCARED OF THIS SONGS POWER.
Ok, This part is for those who want a review, the song is kind of bad, it feels thrown together and the drums sound off but for some reason it is catchy so that means it is better than like 80% of GhostAutumns catalogue. The beat in the background is kind of weird in a good way but it is also basic. One of my least favorite ... read more
This is very unique song for me as I see nothing wrong with this song on a production, beat or even mixing level but the tone feels weird. The song feels like a mix between hardcore rock with the distorted guitars, crushed bass and multitude of raspy sound effects but the beat pattern and tempo of the song feel more EDM inspired, sounding like a sample that Aphex Twin would use on some weird DAW you never heard off.
The song also feels like it is missing something, there just doesn't feel ... read more

Don't know what I was thinking giving cache a 60, the song is so catchy, the vocals are produced spotlessly with the production and the instrumental is just roughed up enough to have an edge but not so much so that it remains catchy and can easily get stuck into your head. I have my old review underneath and I don't know how I can call the vocals "unlistenable" which is such a poorly aged statement for me that I had to put it in quotes just so I could write it ... read more
I think the foundation for this song was good and it could have really gone somewhere but the additional (annoying) instrumental parts and the kind off mixed vocals threw a spanner in the work for this machine. If the song was a minute or two shorter and had a bit of a theme/vibe overhaul then this could have been great.
I'm lost in Vogue
The lyrical content on this is a bit bare bones, there is nothing really to latch onto as the song relies on it's admittedly catchy hook and bridge. The concept of a song being about someone breaking up with someone else due to a clothing addiction sounds so bad it's good and with lines like "You don't believe in god, you just need some Prada", the line between if this is serious or not becomes blurrier. The vocals as well seem fin but they were ... read more
Albums to get swallowed to pt.1
btw this has some serious stuff said so TW for stuff like Grooming, Gore and Suicide i guess.
This is the last (ALLEGEDLY YOU NEVER KNOW) album from the most active AOTY music user on the site, Kron aka m4y4h4n aka MayaFLAC aka Kron The Idiot. This last album is a "vent album" meaning it is going to be more of a personal, off the cuff, release section from the artist, but there was something that made me very interested about this album, apart from a ... read more
How do you make a last album? Unlike By The Time I Get To Phoenix or Circles that are made after an artist is has passed, how do you make an album that you know will be your last before you thrown in the towel and give the music scene a break, do you pour your heart into making another hit filled record from every aching breath like Donuts, do you go more introspective like Black Star or do you do both? What if an artist chooses to try and reflect on what got them to their place but still fill ... read more
