Thank you @MrNoodleMan for recommending what was probably playing on the radios at Chernobyl. This album definity had some highlight tracks and a very unique sound especially for the ambient genre, there are a few issues waying down the score.
First the positives, the album starts off very well with these ambient sounding tracks that have been heavily distorted to the point where it kind of sounds dystopian. This idea matches both the album title and cover art quite well (even though the A.I ... read more
I kind of wanted to hate this, Gonnn already has my AOTY so far with ZephyrZ1 so having another one would seem like I am biased, but the single was too good ignore so I had to check it out, now it's in my top 5.
Gonnn gave me a link to the album before it released so that is why the review is coming out before the product is officially released but even if what I got was a demo of some songs, I still really enjoyed it.
This nothing like ZephyrZ1 which was felt like more video game EDM, ... read more
This is my favourite work by M4y4h4n and even anything in the entire Kron The Idiot catalogue.
The song is very reminiscent of the works of Boards Of Canada due to its delicate sounds. It is clear that the creator put a lot of effort into shaping their style into the ambient mold which Kron has been doing with this alias. The most evident example of this can be seen in the pacing, the song starts off calm and angelic but only lays the second line of instrumentation after the first minute, ... read more
This was supposed to be a quick review, it is now over 1000 words, I hate my love for music.
This was created by user @TristanRipley who has made many reviews and many youtube videos on the subject of music and as a result has made some music of their own, which was accompanied by a video on their channel. As said in the video that is on Tristan's video about this album, there are two different 'main' sections to the album: blue and yellow. He said that they are completely different sounding ... read more
I FINALLY GAVE AN ALBUM THE FUNNY NUMBER SCORE (I am very weak from the medicine I have been taking so if I seem incoherent thats why)
It is quite easy to say that no album sounds like this album, sure you can say that about a lot of 'indie' bands who make experimental music but the whole BitPop scene and even the EDM scene has become so saturated recently thanks to the SKrillex era that experimental techno albums are becoming few and far between when sampling old songs or having basic but ... read more
so Hypercat420 is a friend of my friend @kron6733 but they said this was fire, I didn't believe it, I was so wrong
This album breaks into my top 10 of the year and for good reason, it is an experimental electro dance album that has the fun of JUSTICE with the creativity of Daft Punk mixed together with an 80's vibe. Even the interlude on this is good, there was actual work put into how and when it would fit on the album and it acts as the perfect buffer into L.V.E Forever. This album should ... read more
@BiteIsMe, You have made a song that transcends genre and has gone to its own plane of existence
This song is weird in the best way possible, the loops used are something out of clown show at a carnival, the weird 'wah wah wah's, the too quiet hit hats and the soft piano create this weird almost creepy aesthetic. Also the cover is great, a weird data mosh of both words, colours and trees, it is somehow geometrically off putting meaning it is only off putting in the strangest sense of that word ... read more
The first of many ambient or LoFi songs from the Pink Piano Playing Pioneer themselves KronTheIdiot. I think the multiple synth effects are quite nice but the drums are bit of clash against the vibe. The drums are mixed a bit to echoey while the synths are very precise in their sound, if you're doing an ambient song, you should aim to have instruments that sound sonically the same to perfect that level of equality.

Y'all tripping, this ain't post-rock, this is god damn wild gun slinging western music.
As years have gone by, AOTY users still manage to push the boundaries of the 'AOTY user' label to become generally loved musicians, if @samlrc can do it with A Lonely Sinner, then I can't see why @monththegreat can't do it too.
I think most people can proudly say that they haven't heard an album like this, it is such a unique and under tapped market for songs, this album gives off something similar to an ... read more
I think this single started off great with the bit too quiet but soothing Mollusk Bass, the vibe is built up even better with the experimental drum fest which is This Is Your Hour Of Glory but then completely die off on the track at the end codename:outro.
While this isn't my favourite lead off single, the track list definitely more consistent then the EP which means everything is going in a good direction, the production feels more on point and focused to a concept then last time which helps ... read more
I think this song is a pretty nice vibe, its a bit too chill for its own good but it doesn't overstay its welcome.
I loved the last album ISSUE ZERO but this was just such a disappointment.
FIrst things first, this album is not bad, there are a lot of enjoyable moments on this record like the chorus on SIRENZ, the flow on SIDEWAYZ and basically everything on FIGHT 2 but there are a few issues.
The big problem on this album is that it feels like both Jordan Dennis and JUJO aren't trying their best, it feels like they made some good verses and beats but not enough to make an album so they quickly created ... read more
WE THE BEST MUSIC, ANOTHER ONE
Gonn is back with another single after the success of the other WIP single Metamorphosis. This is also following Gonn's recent EP ZephyrZ1 which I still have as my AOTY, this song is nothing like that album however but I still love it, while that last EP was more glitchy game like music, this is more Rock inspired with heavy guitar and drums section with a hint of experimental vibes thrown in for good measure, it is very enjoyable. Also the cover reminds of the ... read more
Another banger from AOTY user @kron6733's second artist alias M4y4h4n, an account made for more ambient works then Kron The Idiot. Any way for this song, I enjoyed the vibe of the song, the production is good throughout but the end section is kinda of a let down in terms of musical idea, also what is that cover, looks like a rip off of their over cover for "in life, you have roadblocks"
This is Australian RTJ.
The production is absolutely amazing and is based around old comic book era vibe with a lyricist who is so wrapped in his world that it feels like a fictional character is rapping to you, the songs all have stellar hooks and lyrics, going for the badass rap theme while also being as out there as possible, lines like "I'll stop when Hell freezes over" and "Armageddon at the flick of my wrists" don't sound hard when said here, but the delivery just ... read more
I think this could have been great, I listened to a few Khity songs prior to this from 'She's Cute can we keep her' and that album like this one has great production. The experimentation of the beats are usually only in the first 20 seconds and a more flat beat carries on for the rest. The beats differ from dark ambience to game art pop which can ruin the album at times but overall acts as a portal through the ideas in this album, being able to hear them in the greater context. The big thing ... read more
This is simultaneously Krons best and worst work to date, let me explain.
I have been listening and reviewing Kron for a while now and we have been communicating about their upcoming projects through twitter for a while and they have shown me some previews with albums covers and songs. During one of these convos they talked about their inspiration and they sited Music has rights to Children by them, by Boards Of Canada , I never heard of them and so I checked them out and listened to a couple ... read more
This was kind of a let down considering I and a lot of others really enjoyed the singles, however the reason for this highlights why a single works and an album doesn't, tolerability. What made the singles so engaging is that when listening to them just randomly with no greater context it seems like a unique and weird song but when you listen with the album, cracks in the songs start to show. These cracks can be anything from audio errors to samples becoming more basic, these happen all over ... read more
