Unlike many others on this lovely night I actually listened to the whole album before posting my review, and I must ask: what is the appeal of this band? Listeners and lovers of Swans and other post-rock music, what do you like about this? Because to my ears this is absolutely horrific music to listen to.
I will get more into specifics and insane rambling later on, but I feel it necessary to denote my history with the band Swans. I first came across this band through their album The Beggar, ... read more
Converge returning with heat!
Despite having existed for over thirty years at this point, Converge manages to put out music that ripples through the heart like thunder and fire with chaotic compositions, raw production, and thought provoking lyrical content. Converge's 'Love is not Enough' comes to us at a pivotal moment in history with a clear message about taking action and not sitting idly. A very ironic message for some dipshit who has never gone to a protest toiling away ... read more
I'm beginning to think that the kind of people to use Albumoftheyear.org are not representative of general music audiences in any way and are instead neurodivergents who had music chosen as their hyperfixation on the spinning wheel of hyperfixation.
I Listened to this album while reading Mary Barton, and that was a boring experience. let me tell you. This album starts decent enough, but after The Moon, it just dives into the muddy waters of 'eh' for a looong time until Map, and ... read more
Album so good It made me login to aoty for the first time in over six months

I was surprised to like the production on this album as much as I did because its so soulful and jazzy throughout (coming from someone who isn't a fan of soul music). Its just so well produced and has quiet a bit of variety, I ... read more
Something I never see anybody talk about, but I think it worth mentioning is that the cover art for all these guys releases is top tier.
Regardless of that, good fucking god. I am not allowed to see these guys live, because people (including myself) will get hurt. This is up there with the new Whitechapel release for deathcore album of the year.
It's thirty-eight minutes of nonstop over the top wall of noise deathcore and that's exactly what I came here for. This album is ... read more
Part of me feels like I'm not allowed to review this album, like I don't fully understand the intricacies of this record. This is to be expected, as I am certainly not a part of hip-hop culture, and a lot of potential joy and meaning in here is being lost because I am simply not in the know yet This excites me, because I imagine the more hip hop I listen to overall, the better this record will sound.
Granted, I really like this record. Three listens in I think I kind of love it. ... read more
