The inconsistency in certain parts is the only thing holding this back from being the best version of Drake and a complete hell of an album. It’s hard to dwell on the lows when the highs hit this hard.
It feels like the consistency and cohesive sound that defined Take Care was traded for a new level of artistic peak he reaches here. And now, it’s a shame you can’t see any of these qualities in any of his recent works.

This was a lot to digest first thing in the morning. I was stunned, didn’t even know how to feel about it. Now with some more caffeine in my blood, and three listens in, I’m properly creaming.
It’s such a different sound from his previous albums, and I’m glad. This sounds gritty, raw and aggressive when it wants. It doesn’t intend to be clean, it wants to be ugly. And there’s beauty in the ugly. Just like in life itself.
