JPEGMAFIA has fell into a style I think he really feels comfortable in, with loud but familiar tunes that anyone without tinnitus can bop their head to. But although this same thing has been explored in projects like LP! And SCARING THE HOES, in this newest installment he’s pulled far from the experimental side and in a way it hurts my heart. Besides my bias, tho, this plays pretty nice and smoothly
“Veteran” has a lot more to see then meets the eye. The dime-a-dozen production and lyrics show very clever irony and satire that I really love this particular record for. Because it’s all in your face, while also hidden too. While I know JPEGMAFIA wasn’t writing a magnum opus filled with tiny little details and genius writing, it still fills me with happiness to fuck around with concepts it’s kind of surprising to see him mess with.
