Damn, what a talent we lost so early. Critics who thought Jeff Buckley was gonna be the "next great alt-rock savior" before listening to this in 1994, being disappointed with the album and retracting that statement, could not be more wrong because he WAS the next great alt-rock savior, and this might be one of the greatest albums ever made. Some friends recommended I listen to a Swans album since I already listen to a few songs from them myself (mostly from this album), so because of that I thought this would be a good first album for me to get introduced to them.
This album is really interesting; it's scary and unsettling, especially the title track, the second half of disc 1, the closer, and the story it all tells, and it's really well composed and performed. I'm not sure if I'll ever listen to the full ... read more

Wow, this album is fucking generational.
There is genuinely not a single dud on this album. I guess everyone hates Bongo Season but even that is incredible.
I still have much more to listen to but this might've absolutely swept CLEAN every other 2024 release.
