Mr. Vince Staples has just dropped one of the best political hip-hop albums of all time.
Thematically, there is so much to unpack I don't really no where to begin. Vince Staples' political commentary on every track is grounded in the different shades found in oppression. These emotions range from rage, despair, apathy, depression, and vigilance. Vince's prose is densely packed with complex tapestries addressing many aspects of the current american political climate. it’s somehow the tamest but also the least organized of Danny Brown’s projects.
It’s got its own unique sound but I honestly felt underwhelmed for most of it.
I think I would’ve liked this album more if I wasn’t straight.
sidenote - the features on this album is fr the underground rap avengers but gayer. Like it’s crazy seeing shteppi on a Danny Brown project shit is just surreal.
Imagine having half of your nine-track LP being timeless classics.
Well this whole album is a timeless classic in and of itself.
Bruh it’s Michael Jackson what else am I supposed to do?
One of those songs you put on at karaoke because everyone knows the words.
interludes for 45 minutes.
Gorgeous ass interludes, but still interludes nonetheless
not his strongest project but it’s relatively consistent, creative, and delivers in most aspects. Although I wish the tracks were a tad bit longer, the album doesn’t feel rushed in any way for me. Overall, another solid project on the discog.
I genuinely believe that Drake just happened to find a crusty ass USB drive full of B-side tracks and decided to release it without mixing and mastering them because I swear none of this shit was actually reviewed by an actual studio.
It’s honestly impressive how horrible Drake is at making a coherent project.
this album is the musical equivalent to a boiled chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper with lemon squeezed on it.
Honestly, it began with some solid tracks but slowly lost its momentum halfway through and started to sound like your average Drake album.
Overall the project is a bit above average for Drake but that’s not really a high bar to begin with.
