Chappells debut is phemininomenal! Such a colorful and touching experience. What a shame that everybody chose to hate on her for the stupidest reasons ever, but oh well, not everyone deserves to be blessed by this albums greatness.
They really come through with a mesmerising sound on No more shall we part. I feel like i'm being lectured by a pastor with the way Nick is sounding here.
Funnily enough, this project, while extremely forward thinking, seems so different compared to the albums that Miles would go on to release later on. Much tamer than anything you’d expect to hear from the guy who made Bitches Brew.
Aside from that, this thing is fascinating; the progression from "So what" to "Flamenco Sketches" is quite the contrast.
This album shines during its most to-the-point-aggressive passages. The tame passages pan out well enough and the rapping isn’t too bad either. Nonetheless LANDMVRKS sometimes still incorporates ideas that just seem cringey, like the "I am the Creature" call out or some of the try-hard rapping. Those are the moments that bring this album down as an overall experience. Still very enjoyable.
I admire the experimentation on this album, it culminates in some of the catchiest material the band ever came through with. The features work very well too, i mean could you imagine anybody else making a beatboxing segment sound this fitting in a metal context?
