The Blueprint – JAY-Z – Review #42
Rating: 77/100
Quick Thoughts:
This album keeps the same premises as Reasonable Doubt (jazzy production, smooth bars) but manages to take it up a notch in every aspect.
Standouts:
– U Don’t Know
– Heart of the City
– Song Cry
Final Take:
A classic hiphop album and quite possibly Jay’s magnum opus. Also a staple album for cigar smoking sessions.
Currents – Tame Impala – Review #41
Rating: 82/100
Quick Thoughts:
This album immerses me completely with its masterful use of smooth synths, psychedelic vibes, and introspective lyrics.
Standouts:
– Let It Happen
– The Less I Know the Better
– Nangs
– New Person, Same Old Mistakes
Final Take:
The dreamy, psychedelic atmosphere is unmatched but at times falls off on certain tracks. Overall a timeless classic album worth revisiting often.
Get Rich or Die Tryin’ – 50 Cent – Review #40
Rating: 84/100
Quick Thoughts:
The quintessential gangster rap album. This album is packed with timeless bangers and the quality remains consistently high throughout.
Standouts:
– If I Can’t
– Many Men
– In Da Club
Final Take:
Classic album, not much to add apart from that.
From a Bird’s Eye View – Cordae – Review #39
Rating: 71/100
Quick Thoughts:
Cordae clearly cares about the craft — the flows are tight and the production’s clean. Its got decent songs but overall is a bit scattered and at times lacks focus.
Standouts:
– C Carter
– Westlake High
– Super
Final Take:
It’s not crazy, but it’s an enjoyable listen. Solid project as a whole with a good replay value.
Reasonable Doubt – JAY-Z – Review #38
Rating: 70/100
Quick Thoughts:
Smooth, cinematic, and lyrically sharp. The album irradiates luxury and is the foundation for JAY’s next grandiose projects.
Standouts:
– Brooklyn’s Finest
– Dead Presidents II
– 22 Two’s
Final Take:
Easily a classic album but personally not my cup of tea as some parts of this album feel bloated and quite boring.
