no thoughts, just vibes
i can see how this ain't for everyone (which explains the ratings), but this album was so fun for me.
some songs in this album are good in the way that Harry Styles tracks usually are—they sound similar to a song you like, but you can't tell which song it is exactly
if your favorite song off this isn't 'guitar romantic search adventure', did you even listen to this album
"i never loved you more than when you walked away" got me figured out. i want what i can't have and that's okay, because lizzy mcalpine understands me.
just the usual indie rock (?). can we talk about how the opening song "Flip Me Upside Down" is just one wrong turn after another? i hated it, and i have no idea why they'd put it first.
anyway, i feel like my ex would have loved "If You Ever Leave, I'm Coming With You" (at least in 2016-ish), but i didn't come with them so i can't confirm that.
just hands down one of the best pop punk albums of its time. so much energy, very in-your-face.
however, i think we can all agree that "Daughters" should have never existed. the first time i listened to it 10 years ago had left me ?? confused ??? as to why they thought it was okay to write lyrics like that. even more so now.
the good songs are really good
the bad songs are... man i forgot about them already
his live performances are 10x stronger than the recorded versions. i know people say that about a lot of artists, but it really is true for dominic fike. dude's vocals are really something else. i really hope the next album reflects that better.
would I go back and re-listen to the entire EP over and over again? probably not, when I could just listen to 10 Steps on repeat for the next hour or so. it's not a bad EP, the rest of the tracks just feel bland in comparison to how good 10 Steps is.
(also four years shouldn't define your sense of wonder in the world and if you'll ever make it in time.)
