Perhaps I like this album too much. I don’t care. I was spellbound from the first song. It is exactly what it says it is. How sad it is, How lovely it is. It somehow feels so nostalgic for me. It feels like something I have always had in my heart, an album about life, about love, sung in such a soft, gentle voice as almost a collection of nursery rhymes. Me when I take everything that was great about my previous project and improve on it tenfold. But holy shit, this LP was so much better than I expected, and I already expected it to be good. I had chills the entire time, from the first minute of Agnus Dei to the last of Inferno. From the Pyre is at all times brutal, romantic, religiously reverent, sensual, sexual, and immaculate. There are very few times in a man’s life where he is able to say he has been moved so incredibly by a piece of art. Danny DeVito “I get it now” style, this album is so insanely incredibly beautiful and wonderful. I have no more words beyond that. It’s simply, well, perfect. A true once in a millennium figure, Ms. Lauren Hill.
It has a really nice sound, but it didn't really move anything for me. It just kinda felt like another noisy, shoegazey rock piece, and by no means is that bad. It's good. I love noisy, shoegazy rock pieces, I'm on this website after all. It just doesn't have anything too noticeably unique about it, unfortunately.
