There is something that has changed in the attitude of Jeff Tweedy in music.
Compare the lyrics of this album to Wilco’s earlier work, like “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” or “Being There”. "Thesis Statement" is a very touching song so sincere with emotion, and "Pack Yr Bags" could be the most immediate masterpiece of a song I have ever heard. It's so dynamic and colorful of a song, with such immense wind that will blow your socks off.
An excellent double-sided debut from Mark Carrasco. "Horserace" is a thunderously pounding bundle of a song. The guitars bite hard with such a special grit. "Pressure Machine" is a time capsule of the beautiful collection of stories you'd only hear from relatives sitting by the fire. They come in sparks, they fly away, and they leave this world, hoping that someone along the way will paint a picture in honor of it. Brandon Flowers understood the importance of these memories he grew up with.
