Yield proves that Pearl Jam, and even rock music, is still alive and kicking

SPIN
An album full of gracefully ambivalent anthems.

Rolling Stone

By stripping down their mammoth riffs on Yield, they show that they’re smart enough to remember what happened to windbags like the Alarm and Big Country.

Yield heralded an exciting new dawn

Entertainment Weekly
Pearl Jam finally appears to have decided it’s okay to be a Zep-loving classic rock band, and later for all that suffering artist stuff.

NME
Here's where Pearl Jam put on their diverse boots and stomp across their bluesy roots, careering through various styles and pop-mungous strops.

Yield mightn't be the bands best work but it's still their cornerstone for accessibility

The Sydney Morning Herald
Multi-layered music and angst ridden words.

AllMusic

It's hard to view Yield as a disaster, since Pearl Jam's conviction still rings true, but it's frustrating that journeyman tendencies have replaced the desperate, searching confusion that was the most appealing element of the band's music.

Hidden gem
Yield is a really overlooked album. Actually? No, it's fucking underrated to oblivion. Like how can you possibly hate an album that has "Brain of J.", "Do The Evolution", "Given To Fly" and "MFC" in it? Well, yeah, all of these songs are really, and i say REALLY good, but this record also has few issues that are kind of ruining it for me.
First of all, a lot of songs on here feel really pointless and unnecessary like "Red Bar" ... read more

Continuing on with the Pearl Jam discography we have their 5th album, 1998's 'Yield', the last album the band put out in the 90's. Last time around I checked out 'No Code' which saw Pearl Jam go more into a straightforward, mellow Alternative Rock sound and for me at least it was the first dud in their discography, it just felt like too much of a slow burner and not enough interesting was ... read more

I prefer Pearl Jam more for their grunge and garage rock than as a hard rock act. Therefore Yield is not one of my favourite albums of the band from Seattle, Washington. In addition the unbalanced set of balladesque and hard rock parts on a single album is a little irritating and exhausting. And what the heck is the sense of πŸ”΄? On the other hand I like some songs of Yield such as the Led Zeppelin inspired "Given to Fly" or the slow closer "All Those Yesterdays".
