As a stand alone song I kinda like it but with the context of utopia its just disappointed, really hoping for this to be a fluke song

finally got around to listening to this front to back and oh my god it feels like hearing each individual song for the first time again. The sharpest lives and blood are the sole reasons that this isn't a 100. The opening of The Sharpest lives doesn't really stack up to the rest of the song and blood is blood but since it's a hidden track i don't expect it to be as outstanding as the rest of the songs. This album was a pleasant surprise to be sure I was not expecting it to be this good. Black thought formerly part of the roots teamed up with producer El Michels affair to produce arguably one of the strongest soul jazz influenced hip hop albums of the year. This LP is 12 songs long with a 31 minute run time which in my opinion helps the album become more accessible to those who may not be diehard fans. 72 seasons is Metallica's 11th studio album following the polarizing hardwired to self destruct in 2016. This album is a nice energetic return to form for the band since taking a 7 year leave from making a new album but it does leave a lot to be desired. My initial issue stems from the runtime of the whole album clocking in at 77 minutes. With only 12 songs in the whole LP it immediately left a bad impression on me as the accessibility of the album is already diminished from that fact alone. ... read more
