5 Seconds of Summer - EVERYONE’S A STAR!
100

5SOS are a band that have, from their earliest days, been perceived wrongly by most. Starting off as 4 friends wanting to make fun and exuberant pop punk/emo-pop, they began posting covers and music on youtube only to be met with an insane opportunity when members of One Direction randomly stumbled onto their music, and invited them to open for them on tour. Doing so granted 5SOS a huge new audience of fans, but unfortunately led to them instantly being perceived as a boyband by the larger ... read more

5 Seconds of Summer - Boyband

another insane banger, sounds very depeche mode/NIN inspired but in a poppy way, that bassline is so thick and groovy, pure ear candy with how it glides over the super punchy metallic drums

MIRAR - Ascension

might be the funniest metal album ive heard in years icl, the guitar sounds like its being tortured by the cia for information

one trick pony: the album

i gave it a 50 because i genuinely dont know what to rate it, on one hand its certainly impressive with some cool moments, and it also gets points for being funny as shit with how dumb it sounds, but on the other, its literally 50 mins of the exact same thing non stop, with almost no variation (apart from the random brief dubstep section on ... read more

best of the 2 new singles so far, the production is super lush and pretty, and them doing more dnb influenced stuff after the hints of it on concrete jungle is such a treat, cant wait for the new record

Chase Atlantic - FACEDOWN

one of their best songs to date; incredible melodies and production, and the sax in the bridge is nothing short of beautiful, honestly better than most songs on the regular edition of LIH and that's saying a lot considering how good that album already is

quickly, quickly - I Heard That Noise

genuinely one of my fave releases of the year, even as a longtime huge fan i get some of the issues people had with his prior work even if i disagreed, but here it's undeniable he's genuinely pushed himself into new territory and is trying harder than ever to make something that'll stand the test of time as a career highlight. the singing lessons he took for this album really paid off too, i never had an issue with his vocals in the past even if they were by no means technically ... read more

They went full nu metal (even more so than amazing things) and holy SHIT does it pay off, one of their hardest songs to date. I was kinda worried seeing they’d signed to fearless records that they’d just do some metalcore stuff instead but thankfully not; this sounds straight out of 1999 in the most korn way possible (even the video is going for a matrix theme). Its a perfect next evolution of their sound and I can’t fucking wait for the new record

Waterparks - RED GUITAR

as a song i adore it, its super catchy; i love the chord structures with how they feel reminiscent of 2000s pop like gwen stefani's music and the usage of the vaguely middle eastern sounding major-to-minor progressions (particularly in how awsten delivers "with six gold strings and a whammy bar"). i would not have gone for the set it off-esque talk-rap verses vocally but its not too much of a dealbreaker considering the crunchy dark production is excellent. it might even be one ... read more

fuck off nazi shitbag, bro even got hitler himself featured on the 3rd song

this band's music is ass too, its just youtube-reaction-bait-core for reddit manchildren that think anything without breakdowns is mid

On DarkCat's review of DON BROCO - Nightmare Tripping
"@DarkCat just asked rob during the album listening party they're doing rn and he says spiral staircase will come out hopefully sometime in the near future and is "one of the best ideas i've had for a song", no idea what that means but ig that answers the question of it being missing"
On DarkCat's review of DON BROCO - Nightmare Tripping
"Still can’t believe they finally released the one scrapped song from the amazing things sessions (swimming pools), actually mindblowingly good album and worth the 5 years imo Now just gotta wait and see if that one song that was on the original tracklist puzzle during the hype man video (spiral staircase) gets released as a bonus track in a few months since it was supposed to be the original closer for the album"
On H1DD3N_1N_TH3_ST4T1C's review of Ice Nine Kills - The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood
"@ST4T1C if you like the silver scream then definitely do every trick in the book as that's sorta the prototype album (being based entirely on literature though), but predator becomes the prey is also an underrated classic that goes so hard, so probably either of those next!"

"Easily their best album, glad u enjoyed! Still can’t believe how big they are now after I randomly discovered them like 11 years ago, genuine masterpiece album"
On GabrielAOTY's review of Waterparks - ICE
"@GabrielAOTY theyre one of the most anti-ai bands in the scene atm so i cant say i get where that comparison comes from"
On GabrielAOTY's review of Waterparks - ICE
"@GabrielAOTY i mean one is a spontaneous protest song in immediate response to something that happened the day beforehand, as opposed to an album that was recorded in a day but not necessarily written and assembled that fast or for the same reasons"
On GabrielAOTY's review of Waterparks - ICE
"@GabrielAOTY very different situation no?"
On GabrielAOTY's review of Waterparks - ICE
"they wrote, recorded, self-produced and mixed the song in the span of a few hours in one night, even if the sound isnt to your liking, the dedication behind it to make something even remotely this serviceable in that short timespan, on top of the fact its for such an important cause, is extremely admirable, not everyday anyone can put out a song that sounds even half as finished at this in one night. it just goes hard, it's simple, nonchalant, to the point, aggressive, and matches that with the lyrical energy and topic, whats not to appreciate?"
On PRESIDENT - King of Terrors

On Goblinman123's review of PRESIDENT - King of Terrors
"the guy behind this band has been in the uk rock scene for over 20 years in both a multi platinum selling band and a cult-classic post hardcore act too, this is just a new side project, not an industry plant"
On redcarmine's review of Poppy - Empty Hands
"@redcarmine I’d definitely give them another chance, I think they have a really cool, sorta enter shikari type rave-punk sound to them with all the drum & bass/big beat influence and a really raw sense of aggression that shines through Jordan’s production sheen, in a way where it feels like they came up with a bunch of great unique ideas and then had Jordan produce it simply because his style would add some extra oomph to it and compliment the dreamy atmosphere, it doesn’t come off as just having him autopilot making a generic bunch of songs for them the way that some of his other recent work for other artists has"
On redcarmine's review of Poppy - Empty Hands
"@redcarmine house of protection actually has a unique flair of their own though, i feel like they were way more stylistically focused and brought jordan in just because his typical finished product sound compliments the spacey synthy sound of their material, whereas a lot of jordans other prod. work lately feels very autopilot and just samey. i dont think lumping them in with this is quite fair because they have much more sonic diversity and genre variety"

"@Hoemansion yep for sure, this record is so one of a kind, and even at sillier points like tell the vision, it feels so unashamedly earnest and proud to be what it is and say what it says, and those things themselves are usually unbelievably powerful"
On Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
"@exclammark oh yeah I love it now lmao this review is very outdated, forgot to delete/update it"
