Not an incredible album experience, but it’s absolutely interesting to see so many talented artists, especially from the new generation, putting their own spin on a continuation of the classic compilation "Help"
The songwriting here feels almost therapeutic, at times coming close to an emo-core sensibility, and the result is excellent. No song is bad, even if none of them are instant classics, and it’s the kind of record that makes the artistic maturity of everyone involved impossible to miss.
Discovering this album was a wonderful surprise. The raw, visceral songwriting carries such a strong sense of reality that it pulls you into the work and makes you feel like you're not listening to music at all, but watching a scene unfold. I don’t think his style of songwriting is bad — I just think that on this project everything feels so deeply personal and intimate that it ends up creating a barrier between the songs and the listener. Some tracks are pretty good, but most of the album is fairly average.
Absolutely nothing works on this album. Every song sounds like it was written by an immature teenager, while the production feels like it was generated by an uncreative AI. One of the worst things I’ve ever heard in my life — and I’d bet not even Chris Brown himself could sit through this entire album.
