Benny solidifies himself, in my opinion, as the kingpin for drug rap with this new project. He's successfully transitioned to an elder member of the game as he shares lessons and stories from his younger days. He's matured quite a bit in such a short amount of times. Many of the features hit, and the production is as cinematic as anything Benny has rapped on. To me, this is his best project yet and I can't wait to see where he expands and changes next.

slowthai's newest release is a shockingly tame and introspective take on regret and self-reflection. The double-sided quip works great as the first side is full of experimental, finely-tuned bangers (even if the equally fantastic single MAZZA doesn't really fit into the tracklist). The second half of this album is where the writing and delivery get to new heights for slowthai. The commentary on his childhood and growing up is powerful. I thoroughly loved what slowthai delivered on here and I ... read more
While being a wordy and colorful listen, Nyck Caution's latest still feels like much of the same from the Pro Era rapper. It's undeniable that he has bars for days on this record. He brings it on nearly every track. The issue is that the production can be spotty at points (imo the beginning is a bit sluggish) and he is outshined by the features on here. Joey Bada$$ sounds gnarly and Denzel gives one of his best features ever. While I did like a few tracks on here, it's not punchy or exciting ... read more
Many have already, or are going to, echo the sentiment that Arlo Parks masterfully juxtaposes the sweet and wholesome sound she has mastered with the boundary-pushing takes on mental health and sexuality. The sweet sounds and vocal registers remind me so much of Jamila Woods. Arlo Parks opts for dreamier instrumentals and softer melodies and the final project lands so perfectly for me. While I don't know how much I will return to this album throughout 2021, I'm gonna say definitely check it ... read more
I was a big fan of milo's work when he was under his original moniker. I thought the scallops hotel stuff was ok, but I really enjoyed Purple Moonlight Pages last year. For me, this one just falls a bit in the middle. A lot of the jazzy, loop-heavy production lands for me but it simultaneously becomes repetitive after a few tracks. It begins to fall into the background at points. The mixing on here at times feels inconsistent, but that may be intentional. Milo comes off almost more like a slam ... read more
