An existential crisis has never sounded so boring.
As an avid enjoyer of Glass Animals' previous albums (even Dreamland, despite some of its inherent flaws), I did not expect to leave this album feeling... absolutely empty. It is by no means a bad album, and I will go over many of its highlights in a moment, but overall, it just lacks any of their signature character or whimsy. So, it's best to preface this review by mentioning that I had listened to quite a lot of Half Alive's discography prior to listening to this album. Well... I've heard a lot about this album, and I'm not sure if it always delivers its best, but it's certainly a nice listen regardless. "Nude" and "Reckoner" stand out as being especially beautiful songs, and the general vibe of the album is carried all throughout the track list, so it definitely knows what it's going for- and it executes it perfectly. Well, we finish up our dive into Glass Animals' discography with none other than their debut album: ZABA. And I'm very glad to say that this journey ended on a really sweet note.
